How do you handle the disappointment
This is only my 1st month ttc and I don't even know if it worked yet. But I POAS at 9dpo and cant help but feel so sad.
I just feel like I am not strong enough to handle this process, I am very emotional and the most impatient person I know.
How do you pick yourself up after each BFN?
I would love to hear all of your suggestions and tricks to help me be a stronger person TIA

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
Interestingly enough I feel like I just naturally "get back on the horse". The first day or so after AF arrives is rough, I to am very emotional and have the patience of a knat. But it's almost as if the hopes for next month take over after that day or so grieving period. I can't help but be positive and hopeful for what may be.
I hope you find the same happens for you if you don't get your BFP this cycle!

I've lived through 11 BFNs in the last year. Somehow, you just deal with it. There is no choice! And the good thing is that each month there is renewed hope.

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
I get upset everytime I get a BFN. but I really cry once AF shows up. But once Af leaves then you kinda of look forward to the next cycle and I get excited and look forward to seeing the EWCM so we can start BDing again.
It does get more emotional for me everytime a month passes by and I am not PG. I have been ttc since September and its really harder that I thought.
This past cycle hit me hard. after 5 months of ttc, I found out that 2 of my friends are PG and the next day I found out one of DH friends wife is PG too. I literally broke down and cried myself to sleep.
but you just have to dust yourself off and try again.

Renewed hope, those are the exact words I was trying to come up with! Well said!

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
1. I don't test until AF is late!
2. I always think the worst and hope for the best.
3. When AF shows I get really upset, b*tch, whine and complain but then I plan the next month of attack.

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
Thanks so much for sharing with me guys. I guess the fact that every new month is another chance is really helpful.
Babylove, please tell me how you fight the urge to not POAS before AF is late LOL I have been thinking about POAS since 3DPO

The only way I'm able to hold out is that I don't count DPO bc I don't know the exact time I O, I know that I always get AF every 28-31 days and if she's not here on day 32 then I test.

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
After 14+ months of serious trying, i hate to say it, but i almost expect a BFN at this point. How do i deal? Let's just say i do A LOT of pampering..massages, mani's, pedi's, facials, shopping sprees. It does take a toll, but you just have to dust yourself off and get back on the horse. There is no other choice.

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
TTC is an emotional rollercoaster. The day AF shows her ugly face, I am very upset and feel like it is never going to happen. By CD3, there is a renewed hope that maybe this will be our month. You honestly get through the disappointment and rally again.
I almost never POAS...if I do, I only test once, then wait for AF. BFN's are so depressing...not worth seeing!
You have to believe and keep hope that it will happen. Throw time lines out the window...it will happen in it's own time.

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
Its not easy at all...I'm on month 7 of TTC post miscarriage and its a long, hard and stressful road. I think my last post for conceive online says a lot of how I handle it...
Mission:mommhood
I hope this is it for you though...that's how it should be..easy..but it's not always and you just have to try to enjoy life while its here...the 2ww is realloy the worst..after that you remember how to go on...and then the cycle happens again.
good luck!!!

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
1) I treat myself to a cup of coffee with breakfast. (I coffee, but mostly gave it up to ttc).
2) I go out for a long run.
3) Talking about it (or typing) helps.
4) Temping helps. It gives you insight, even if it's not information you want. My LP is typically 13 days, so my temp would start to drop around CD11/12. If it stays up past that point, I'll POAS. But not before. BFNs are worse than AF IMO.
eta: The PPs are right - each new cycle is a new chance. There's hope for all of us yet!!

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
Towards the end of the 2WW I start to get sad and reallyyyyy disappointed. When I get AF, I think to myself "Im so sick of this.... I'll never get pregnant".... but normally after a day of seeing AF, I start to think how this is a new cycle and a new start. I get excited about the process again.
It's disappointing, but it'll pass and you'll be happy again when you start a new cycle. Good luck!

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
I think the fact that you are closer to the next month to try again really helps. Matter of fact when you go through a couple months of TTC., the 2ww goes so fast b/c by the time AF comes you wait basically a week after shes done to start again and then you wait..months fly by!

Re: How do you handle the disappointment
Just keep telling myself in the back of mind that it will happen when it is supposed to... so that gets me more excited than anything. I also don't test unless AF is late... which is funny because our first month TTC was February and I have yet to see AF
