What does your kitchen look like? White Subway tiles are very cheap at Lowes.

Re: I'm about broke and need a backsplash
are you into the pressed tin look? I got pressed tin sheets and put them up as my backsplash, the whole thing was like $50.

I love this, but don't think it'd look right in my kitchen. i am kinda going for a tuscan feel. and white subway tiles may not "match".. do they come in other colors?

What about putting up bead board that you can paint out?
Google images of bead board backsplash. That can be done really inexpensively also.

Re: I'm about broke and need a backsplash
I have the pressed tins in antique bronze color. I get so many compliments and people can not believe how easy and cheap it was to do --

Re: I'm about broke and need a backsplash
You wouldn't need a lot of backsplash at all. I think you could find something for $200 total.
You could also just leave it painted and save up and wait for a deal. We did this in our first home. It actually was tiled for 2 years. It was just painted the color of the kitchen and it looked fine.
Maybe also go to some local tile stores and see if they have anything that is discontinued, on sale or maybe a customer ordered to much or it was the wrong tile and it might work for you.
I don't think I would put bead-board. I would think it would be hard to clean if something splattered on it.
Love the way your kitchen came out, by the way.

It shouldnt be if you use the proper finish on the paint.

Re: I'm about broke and need a backsplash
google search for beadboard backsplash
I think they have a plastic beadboard also. You can check out at HD or Lowe's and see if they carry it. I love the beadboard look.
I can't see your pic from work, so I don't know what you kitchen looks like. Nuts.

Ditto. Mine is still sheetrock painted the color of the kitchen.
I have a kind of a french country theme going on in my kitchen so what I've done so far is I've hung up two things - a wooden rooster sign, and an embroidered pot holder that we got on our honeymoon...
I love it so much that I'm on the hunt for cute vintage tin signs to hang so I can cover most of my wall space and make my own backsplash. My stove is on my island so I don't have to worry about splatter.
Maybe you can do the pressed tin just behind the stove and do something cute and funky around the rest...

Another option is to purchase a sheet of laminate (formica) and it can be glued to the walls with liquid nails. It slips behind the cabinets for an easy install and there are a million patterns available with every different kind of look.
Plus its easy to clean and cheap ($100)

Re: I'm about broke and need a backsplash
it doesn't seem like a huge space to cover. I would go to HD or Lowes or a tile store and ask to see discounted and sale tile and see what your options are. A lot of places are left with random amounts of tile and they want them gone.

What about that place in Lindenhurst. Below Wholesale Flooring on West Hoffman Avenue. You would probably be able to find something inexpensive there.
