Honestly, I think she is just clueless. If she is unemployed and still living with her parents she has no idea what it takes to save money to buy a home or how much they actually cost, when you are figuring out how to fit it into your budget. She may be comparing it to what her parents have (since that is her only real reference) and you just can't compare since that is what they've been working at/paying for for 20+ years. I'd be highly insulted by what she said but I'd probably try to write it off as clueless and maybe even make comments when I could, something along the lines of "you'll see when you get to where I am"

I don't necessarily think the person is jealous but certainly is rude with this passive aggressive comment.

This house could be your forever house. Who is she to tell you it's not a "dream" house?

Sounds like she doesn't know the cost of a home. Even "crappy" houses cost a pretty penny on Long Island.

I would say take the comment where it came from and that's it.
