RE and insurance

So do RE's typically take insurance? I dont know...I feel like this is a super dumb question...but do they?
And if you have to have an IUI done, is that covered?
I have to call and make my first appointment...so I didnt want to be totally in the dark.
TIA!

Re: RE and insurance

Can you go to your insurance companies website to see if the Dr you are interested in is in there plan?
In my case, I researched dr's and then looked up 3 to see if they were in my plan.
When you call to make an appointment, they will probably ask you who your insurance carrier is and the policy number, this way they can see what your Infertility coverage is...whether it's comprehensive or advanced.

All insurance companies are different. All I pay are $40 copays at each visit (which add up!!!) and my insrance covers everything except IVF. HTH!!

Re: RE and insurance

All insurance companies are different - and the plans within that insurance can be different.

mine (aetna) required pre-certification, and then covers all visits (i pay $20 copay each time) and any testing (bloodwork, hsg, sonos etc) , and iui's. However they do not cover IVF

If you're thinking of seeing an RE - you need to call and see if they accept your insurance, and then they can tell you if there is any precertification required and what you need to do
