Question about Fifth's Disease....
There's been a couple of outbreaks in my school, it's not a problem for women who are later in their pregnancies, right?

I was lurking and wanted to reply to this as I just spoke to my doctor about it yesterday. There are lots of cases at my daughters school. My doctor does a blood test in the begining of pregnancy, once your exposed to it you are immune to it. I would see if your doctor tests for this in the begining. They told me most adults are immune to it, and my test showed I was.

Thanks for the response I'll ask my doctor, she may have already done the test and I just didn't realize it.

My doctor did as part of my first round of blood work. It turns out I am immune. I had no idea what this disease even was before I became pregnant!

i posted about this last week b/c we had outbreaks in the school, too. i had a dr appt the next day and she told me it mainly concerns women in the first 6 weeks of their pregnancies. we took bloodwork just to be safe, but she says once you've had it, youre immune
