Anyone have an electric fireplace?
We are thinking of putting one in our bedroom....any feedback? Do you like it, is it cheesy?

I do-we love it, but if there is a warranty, get it. ?The heater on ours malfunctioned. But we love it nonetheless.

Does it somehow have simulated flames or do the logs just glow reddish?

i have one... its really cute... def not cheesy... it has realistic looking flames with logs at the bottom and bricks on the sides... google beverly fireplace and you'll see it... we bought it at a place called furnakit for $500

My bill was huge for dec, but thats bc we have electric heating and add to that that it isnt running right... 
I personally cannot tell you the difference since its only our 1st month in the home and have nothing to compare our bill to.. sorry!

My ILs have one - it's definitely fake-looking. It could just be their model.
DH and I (really just me) are looking at getting the gel fuel ones.

thanks for the feedback...
I really wanted the gel burning one, but we are in a co-op and cant have a real "fireplace" re: open flame other than candles since its a multiple residence dwelling.

we have one that's in tour entertainment unit and we LOVE it! it heats the room and we don't have to put the heat on in that section of the house.
i've noticed no difference in my electric bill and we have it running a few hours a day

i have the Amish one.. its in our bedroom and i use it every night.. it works so well!! we turn the heat lower upstairs to use that.. so we dont burn as much oil ! its so worth it!

My IL's have one and it looks very real. It's gorgeous and you wouldn't realize from far away that it's electrc.
We're thinking of converting our real fireplace in the future since the real fireplaces sometimes aggravate my asthma so we never use ours.

I got one for my mom for Christmas. She loves it. I got it at Lowes.
I wish I had gotten her a little larger for the area it is in. She has hers in a porch that has no insulation on the ground so air gets in that way.
