We have a Squirel(s) in our attic/crawlspace.

Waiting for the exterminator to call me back. It sounds like the little thing is having a party up there!

Has anyone had experience with this? The removal process is sorta freaking me out.

TIA!

not personally, but my friend did. It was bad. The exterminator trapped the squirrels, then they had to use some kind of dust to kill mites and other other bugs that live on squirrels, they had to throw out tons of Christmas decorations that the squirrels had a party with, then they had a contractor fix a whole section of their soffits.
It was a PITA, but it worked!

We currently have one above us in our apt building. I swear, when he rolls his acorn, it sounds like he's bowling! Forget if they're having sex. She screeches like he's killing her!

Anyway, we had them years ago and the exterminator actually SHOT them with a special little gun. Don't know if they can do that anymore, but it was pretty un-invasive compared to poison.

we had racoons at my MIL. It was like a dance party up there. The guy came, set up traps and removed them a few days later. NONE were hurt and he brought them to the woods near her house.

I thought, from reading on here, that they were not allowed to trap and release raccoons? Just wondering.

Tine...

My neighbor had this. They had some box thingy put on the outside of the house where the squirrels were getting it. The squirrels try to get out and get trapped in there. It doesn't look pretty from the outside but they did get them and sealed up the hole then. Hope it works out.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks everyone! The space is too small for us to store anything up there, so theycwon't ruin anything and I think they are getting through the back of the house. Ugh...so not looking forward to this! The joys of owning a home!Chat Icon

We had them when we first moved in. They drove the cats crazy running around in the ceiling!

We called an exterminator who came and put some box traps up in the eaves, and on the roof. He caught them all and released them (except for one who got caught on the roof in a rainstorm Chat Icon ).

Then DH fixed up where they were getting in, and 3 years later, we're still squirrel free!!

I don't know much about having them in the house - except that they can do a lot of damage...and squirrels are not covered under home owners insurance...raccoons are though.
