I'm just going to throw this out there--it seems like the majority of us are in Suffolk--do we want to try for something in Suffolk? Maybe we could even do two, but the Suffolk one might be more central for most of us who expressed interest...
yay
I agree I also like the park idea too DD loves being outside

I wonder if we'll get lucky enough to find a nice Sunday in December to be able to go to the park Sundays would be good, my DH will be home to watch my toddler son.

That would be great--maybe at the Bayard Cutting arboretum? It's kind of mid-Suffolk (though S. shore), and gorgeous. They also have an indoor house where we could get coffee or tea if it's too chilly. Or the Stony Brook duck pond? Maybe Dec. 13?

Maybe the arboretum is a better idea. If it's too windy out, it'll be hard to change their diapers outside and the indoor house your referring to would be good. I've been to the arboretum before but not inside. Is their a place for all of us to sit with our strollers in case of bad weather?

Re: June/July Mommies GTG
I live near the arboretum so I'll try to run over tomorrow to check out how their crowd is on December weekends. The cafe is fairly large and I've never been there with more than two tables taken. But the tree lighting is this Friday and they do have holiday decorations in the houses so I do not know what the winter crowd is like. I think if we met early, we'd be good. They do have a website but I'll check in person to see what they say about being hit with a stroller parade! And get menu/prices for lunch or snack. I think they are reasonable.

Re: June/July Mommies GTG
Okay, here's the info I got... and I'm sorry, I did not quite retain it all I think I threw them off by telling them I wanted to come with up to 10 baby strollers!!!
I think a reservation was a no go unless we knew for sure how many and what time and if we did waitress service (20% gratuity added) and/or took the whole big room for a tea (they do a formal "tea" for $25.95 [totally an experience to be had but I think not appropriate for us]).
The Arboretum is open daily from 10-4 and the cafe opens at 11am and is first come first serve. Now, they did say that they get a crowd, especially on the weekends but if you call in advance, they can let you know the crowd and/or set some tables together if we have a number and time.
It is a cafe so it has 4 top tables. It's not huge but it's decent and they can put tables together and who cares if we have strollers in place of chairs, we're paying customers. The lunch menu consists of about 15 nice sandwiches (served with chips) and 7 salads ranging in price from $6.95 - $8.95 also grilled cheese for $4.75 or PB&J for $3.50 or hot dog for $2.25 and daily specials as well as pastries/danish/cookies. Coffee, tea and such for drinks. Counter service. Weather permitting, there's also seating on the covered porch.
So here's what I propose... Be there or be square (or we'll see you at the next one!)
June/July Mommy GTG at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum, Great River, NY
Saturday, December 19 or Sunday, December 20 (majority vote)
Park opens at 10:00am (no charge for parking). I'll be there at 10 for a bundle baby stroll if anyone cares to join me! Weather permitting (when I was there the other day, it was 53* with no sun and it was gorgeous! I had just a turtle neck and fleece and was fine with no gloves or hat and DS had a toasty nap in his hat and blankets!).
Cafe opens at 11:00am so we'll be there sharp to rangle tables inside!
Again, weather permitting, I'll bring my rubber lined blanket (if you have one bring it too) if anyone wants to have a little play circle on the grass after lunch and/or go for another stroll!
I hope this would accomodate the indoor and outdoor gals but even if only one or two show up, I'll be there!

That's across from the Smithaven Mall? What time? I'll see if DH and I do not have plans, if I can make it. We're going to FL that week so we may be taking down the holiday decorations that weekend!
