As you get older. . .

do you find that your bedtime routine is getting more involved? Chat Icon

When I was in college, I would basically take off my bra and flop into bed. Half the time without brushing my teeth or removing my makeup.

Now, it is getting ridiculous! Chat Icon It takes like a half hour for me to get ready for bed:

use neti pot
gargle with salt water
^these two only b/c i am sick

wash face with medicated cleanser, wait for it to dry an then rinse off
Spread Retin-A on face to prevent acne ( and wrinkles! )
brush teeth
lotion up
brush hair ( 100 strokes, LOL j/k )
put on PJs.

Chat Icon maybe i should just start getting ready for bed NOW!

Re: As you get older. . .

I have a routine but I've got in down to about 7 minutes.

Change, take off eye makeup, wash face, brush and floss, moisturize face and then lotion up. Take meds and flop.

It's a science.

My routine takes about 20 mins and I am so sick of it. Part of the problem is that I use AcneFree which has a bleaching agent in it so I have to be really careful not to get it on my eyebrows or near my hairline. I can't just do a quick rinse of my whole face like I'd like.

Re: As you get older. . .

so funny...I was JUST thinking this! I wash my face, tone, then put proactiv on. Then I put retinol product on, then I wait for that to dry and put on some more antioxidants (all the while, flossing, brushing, tweezing). It takes forever, but DH just said last night, "you're going to look awesome when you're older"...so at least there's some validation to all this time i'm spending!

age defying lotion
brush teeth
tie hair upbring a glass of water to bed

(and totally not beauty related - get the puppies settled for the nite in their cage with toys and stuff)

Re: As you get older. . .

I have always had a complicated "getting ready for bed" routine. I floss, gargle and brush teeth with a one of those spinning toothbrushes. Then I wash first with my clinique makeup remover, then use either my exfoliant or regular neutrogena to clean. After that, I tweeze if necessary, then my retinol cream from neutrogena. Then if necessary, a spot-acne treatment. THEN a heavy hand lotion, then drink some water so I don't get dehydrated, then moisturize my lips!!!! I was always slow, even back in high school!

Re: As you get older. . .

I'm so old that I just have to wait for the heartburn medication to kick in before I lay down. That actually gives me time for all the lotions and stuff so it all works out.

Re: As you get older. . .

well i shower at night during the week but when i don't it's:

take out contacts
wash face
put on medicated face creme
put on PJs
take vitamin
lotion my feet Chat Icon
bed

if i have eyeshadow and eyeliner on, washing my face takes longer, but all in all my routine is about 10-15 minutes long

i've been doing this since HS - i NEVER go to bed with makeup on. even if don't do a single other thing, and sleep in my clothes, i have make-up remover cloths i use before crashing.

My routine is the same as HS and college.

It got a little longer b/c now I have to put Retin-A on my shoulders & decolletage area.

Re: As you get older. . .

It takes about 15 mins or so - more if I'm showering that night instead of the am.

I brush my teeth first with regular toothpaste, than with a prescription flouride toothpaste - to prevent cavities.

Wash face

Prescription acne cream - to prevent breakouts

Eye cream

PJ's

Vitamin & a bottle of water or gatorade for middle of the night thirst quenches.
