This picture was taken when Jack was 15 months and he has grown a bit since then.
He's had a huge spurt the past few months
<----------12 and 1/2 months

He is a slow talker in public and my doc keeps telling me not to worry but I have a bit of a complex since everyone at the playground seems to look at his wierd since he's bigger and real physical but doesn't say much..

Has anyone else gone thru this....

I don't think my son looks older but everyone asks me if he is 2 or 2.5 (he is 19 mos) esp at the park. 2 people asked me this just on Friday. He is very steady on his feet and a good climber and pretty independent so that's why people think he is older. People always as if he is big for his age...but according the charts his height was about 60%ile at his 18 mo visit and weight about 85%ile. So he isn't huge. He is a slow talker (he only has a few words he uses regularly - like no and woof woof and broom broom) too so I know how you feel - I kind of think they are like look at this big kid who doesn't talk. They have time and I know he is still my baby boy!

Yes, actually I'm going through this right now. People always say he "looks" so much older than his age. At first it bothered me alot, now it's just a little.

He's only 6 months old in the pictures I posted the other day.

Here's the link

The autumn pictures I think he looks the oldest in. Even my family thinks so, but he's in the "right" percentiles for his age. ETA: I even asked my doctor about this and she said it's his alertness and awarness of things. Still, I don't get it! LOL

BTW, your son is adorable. A very handsome young boy!

We went through this with my older son, he always looked a LOT older than his age because he is very tall. Even now that he is 7 yrs old, people think he is 10. It did bother me when he was just starting to speak because I always felt people thought he was behind until I told them his age. After some time, I am over it. Who cares what people think!
I am sure I will go through the same thing with my little one. He is only 5.5 months old and people always think he is 8-9 months old, again because he is tall.

Well, not me personally...but, my cousin's son is VERY tall for his age. Everyone assumes he's 3 y/o when he's not even 2 yet! She's not really bothered by it though...
BTW, all of your little ones are adorable!!Chat Icon
