sorry, I never had one. My sister was going to get one and opted not too so she had a 3d sono and some other blood tests done.

Oh don't worry!!! I had the cvs procedure which is exactly like an amnio, it's just done earlier and they grab placental cells instead of amniotic fluid. It was about 10 minutes long if I recall correctly, and not terribly uncomfortable at all. I had it in the afternoon and went home right afterwards to lie down. I'd say the cramps after were like a mild to moderate period cramp, definitely don't freak out. The next morning I was great and went to work, you will be FINE. They don't numb the area, they just swipe you with an alcohol pad to prevent infection. Plus you are watching the whole thing on a CCTV and it was so awesome to watch I totally forgot the discomfort!!!
