my friend had it and had a  . Her doctor told her its more common with women having boys b/c of the hormones (although some women have girls too)

I had a VERY severe case of PUPPPS and I had a boy.
I'm 2 weeks PP now and it's just starting to resolve itself. I've been on steroids to get it under control - I still have flare ups, but nothing like how it was in the days leading up to and after delivery. Nothing really helped to control the itch, I did find that ice packs and ice cold showers helped to lessen it a little bit. Good luck to you, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Thanks....I'm not sure what is happening on my belly. I have about 7 small itchy bumps and 1 on my inner arm. They are red with a whitish center and I want to dig fork prongs into them and rip them off. How do they make a diagnosis?

i went to my obgyn and a dermatologist for a diagnosis. i found this soap-i wish i could remember the name, i think it is pine tar soap-smells disgusting and its black in color but it did help a little. eventually the itching was so severe and covering my entire body except for my face that the dermatologist gave me a cortizone type cream. that made the itch go away almost immediately but that was after two weeks of constant itching!!
by the way, i had a boy. i read somewhere that 70% of people with PUPPS have boys.

I had a severe case starting at 27 weeks. I had a boy. If you do a search, I think you can find some of my recommendations ...
1 week of Prednisone Steriods
Granpa's Pine Tar Soap
Jason's Witch Vera Gel
Alba's Very Emollient Unscented Lotion
Lots of luke warm aveeno baths (keep the bathtub filled all night in case you wake up insanely itchy you can just take a 5 min dip without having to wait for the tub to refill. I would shower then fill the tub for the night and take a dip a few times a night.)
Sleep with ice packs on the itchy spots.

Mine started on the top of my belly as a prickly heat rash and then spread to the bottom of my belly. When it would flare (mostly at night), welts would pop up and I would want to take a cheese grater to my skin. 2 days before I delivered James, it spread to my entire body. My legs and arms were covered and flaming purple. I would just sit and cry and scratch myself raw. I still have spots on my legs that are scabbed over.
My doctor never put a "diagnosis" on it until I was in the hospital getting induced, but I knew in my heart that it was PUPPPS from the day I first started itching.
I did read that scratching spreads it (think chicken pox) - if you REALLY have to scratch, try putting a cotton sheet over the area and rubbing it. If you actually scratch and break skin (which I did a LOT), you also run the risk of getting a secondary infection.

Elbee was my lifesaver when I had PUPPS which I got at 24 weeks It sucked so bad. I had twin boys which are two of the "risk factors"
ETA: My Dr also prescibed hydroxizine which is an anti itch antihistamine pill which somewhat helped
