Asbesots Tile - Putting Down Hardwood
We wanted to put down bamboo flooring in our Family Room, but there is asbestos tile under the carpet currently in there. Under the tile is concrete. We're getting mixed info. about whether or not we can just put subflooring over it and then the bamboo - OR remove the tile and then put the bamboo?

If you pull it up, you need to dispose of it leagally, which can be costly from what I am told. I would put subfloor over it and then the wood floors.

We did the same thing except we didn't go with Pergo. We did engineered hard wood floor with the 3-in1 harmony underlayment (its red). Its best to leave the asbestos tiles. I can't remember if asbestos tiles were 8x8 or 9x9. If yours is that size it is definately asbestos. Vinyl tiles only come in 12x12.
