Re: inducing question with poll
With DS my water broke, but no dilation. They gave me pitocin twice. It took a long time, but I finally dilated.

Re: inducing question with poll
I was induced and had a vaginal delivery. My labor was a total of 16 hours but it wasn't 16 hours of hard labor. It was 16 hours from the time my water broke.
I went in Sunday night at 7 pm. They started Cervadil at 9 pm. My water broke at 3 am. I was contracing and dilating on my own so they didn't give me pitocin right away. I got Pitocin at about 330 Monday afternoon to help me dilate the last 2 cm. DS was born a little before 6 pm.

Re: inducing question with poll
I was induced 2x during a period of 1.5 days but it didn't work so the doctor made me have a c-section.
If you're getting induced, make sure you're the right candidate for it. Get an ultrasound to make sure there are no problems that may prevent a successful induction.
My baby had the cord wrapped around his neck twice and refused to budge! The doctor didn't know until after the c-section. :P

Re: inducing question with poll
My doctor used cydotech and I ended up not needing pitocin. Water broke at 4am and delivered vaginally at 2:15pm.

Vaginal birth; started with cervadil for 12 hours, then onto pitocin for over 24 hours. Pushed for 4 hours.

Re: inducing question with poll
Induced at 7 days overdue. I was only 1-2 cm dilated, but cervix was "ready", so I thankfully skipped Cervadil. So I had Pitocin only.
Was in my bed at 7:30pm, they started the Pitocin, and DD was born at 2:30 the following morning...I pushed for over an hour. I was lucky with a very short labor.
