I AM SO MAD RIGHT NOW!!!!!
Long story short....
We are in contract for a home, closing was suppossed to be on or around 7/1. Find out on 6/30 that the seller never got a CO for the inground pool.  There was only an open one from when he got the pool over 20 years ago. The pool was drawn on the survery that DH got from the town, which the seller drew on himself!!!!!! I could kill this guy.
The seller lives in Florida. He flew up here on 7/15 and finally got around to getting the application and will bring it to the town this week... ummm what the heck is taking you so long? JUST DO IT!!! you have nothing else to do, and this should have been done already!
DH and I are living at my in laws with our kids and we are just DONE living here. The seller could hire an expeditor, but won't because he is cheap. This could potentially take months and I want to cry. There is no sense of urgency from ANYONE but us. No one knows anything, and I have had it with our attorney's office. They should be calling the sellers attorneys daily for updates since the seller arrived, but NO. They don't. 
I could seriously strangle the seller, but I want the house, so I won't.

i thought you can close with out a CO as long as money is put into escro and paper work has been filed.

Our sellers were waiting too long for their own reasons as well, but our mortgage guy explained to their real estate agent that within a certain amount of time the appraisal from the mortgage company would run out and with the market going down, it may not appraise for the same amount it did last time and they may potentially lose the sale. Needless to say, they set a closing date almost immediately and tied up all of their loose ends... Good Luck!

OHHHHH that sucks! Yea i am wondering if this might happen to us, not sure waiting for our seller to sign the contract papers (three weeks now waiting) claim they have lawyer issues.

I hope not!! This is pure torture. DH and I keep joking that we may need to hire our attorney for our divorce because of all this stress and our living arrangements.

Same thing happened to us - we were supposed to close May 15 and found out 2 days before that they didn't have COs. Our bank wouldn't allow us to close with out them. They hired an expediter and we didn't close until the end of July. We also had issues with the house going into foreclosure.
It's SO frustrating! I hope things get straightened out quickly for you!
