stupid question about when going to deliver
When going to the hospital for L & D, is it okay to have jewelry on? Or do they have you take it off? The only reason I ask is that I always wear the same diamond studs and necklace, which are from my mother and I would DIE if they were lost or went missing....should I just go w/no jewelry on?
I know I know, stupid question

All hospitals may be different, I did not wear my rings but I wore my diamond earrings which I also wear every day and I had a necklace tha DH and DD had given me as a gift which was gold with a baby carriage pendant with diamonds. I did not take these off and no one asked me to do that either.

I dont know if they make you remove it but I am just not going to wear anything so I dont have to worry about anything getting lost....

If it's something very valuable to you it's best to leave it home. I know where I delivered last they required you to remove all jewelry.

IF you end up with a c-section, you will probably have to remove all jewelry, so I'd just leave it home.

When I delivered last year, I did not have to take off my jewelry but I did take off my earrings and left them home.

leave it home...better to be safe than sorry. you will be puffed up from all the IV fluids and if you end up with a section it will probably need to be removed.

I had my rings on a chain around my neck and did not have to remove (at Huntington Hosp).

I agree with this.. although I will admit I didn't follow my own advice, but I thought I was just going to be sent home again.

I left everything including my wedding rings at home (even though they still fit) - i could swear they told me on the hospital tour (NSUH) to do this but, i can't remember for sure now!

They didn't make me remove my jewelry, but I took mine off and gave it to DH to take home right before I was wheeled in for my c-section. If you know you are going in to the hospital to deliver, I would absolutely remove your jewelry before you go. You may have to take it off, you'll be swollen etc., and you don't want it to get lost.

I was able to wear them in L&D, but I am pretty sure I had to remove them if I had to go for a c-section.
