Re: what items do i need for BF
the only thing I am getting bc I want to make sure it all works out is the pads to put in my bra & some cream. Otherwise, I will send DH or my mom to BRU once I know that it is working out. I plan on pumping almost immediately but will use my Dr Brown bottles.

Re: what items do i need for BF
this is what i would have handy from day 1:
1. LANSINOH OINTMENT - absolutely PRICELESS. you put it on your nipples to keep them moist so that they won't crack. it helps SO MUCH!!! but watch out, it really stains, which is why you need...
2. breast pads - to protect your bras/clothing from leaking and from the ointment.
that's really it. if you're squeamish about whipping out the boob in front of family/friends, i might also invest in a breastfeeding cover. or a receiving blanket will do the job just fine.

Definitely get the pads and cream to start. Are you getting a pump? If so, pick up a box of the bags - I always said I would only BF when at home, but sometimes your milk is ready and baby is not and it HURTS. So you can pump and store it in the bag for later.

Re: what items do i need for BF
To bring with you in the hospital, I'd have some breast pads handy, lansinoh, maybe 1 or 2 nursing bras and a boppy pillow or breast friend.
If it works out, then you can invest in some more nursing bras, maybe nursing shirts/camis, and I HIGHLY suggest Lilly Padz if you have a leaking issue.

Re: what items do i need for BF
Every BFing mom should try MAMAEARTH ANGEL BABY NIPPLE BUTTER!!! They sell it at BRU.. its just like lanolin but its organic... the consistency is much smoother... not sticky.. it doesnt stain... its safe for baby no need to wipe off!! I used to use lanolin but it was so sticky and stained.... I found this after tons of research and I will never to back to lanolin!!!
TRY IT! Check out the reviews on the website!! Also if you plan to go get it.. ask someone where it is... its small n they dont sell a ton, so you may not find it youself... I got it from Sayville BRU on the rack for moms things!

Re: what items do i need for BF
1. lanisoh (purple tube) put on after every feeding in the beginning to help with cracked or bleeding nipples.
2. nursing pads - I personally liked the Gerber brand nursing pads and found they were the most absorbent.
3. nursing bras - I liked the Medella brand
4. pump - I loved my Medella PISA
5. storage bags
6. sterilizing bags
7. bottles
8. nipples
9. depending upon your size, you may need different sized shields and connectors so if you are not comfortable pumping this can be a reason

Re: what items do i need for BF
Everything everyone suggested above except I would hold off on buying a pump until you know for sure BF will work out for you since they are $$. You may want to invest in a cheap manual pump for now in case you have engorgement issues and need to pump for relief.
