choosing your baby's gender
I know the most important thing for probably ALL of us is that our children are healthy. But I'm curious if anybody has ever (or will now be) trying to use certain techniques in order to try for a specific gender.
I've been reading up on certain BD positions as well as specific BD scheduling that can give you a higher chance for conceiving your desired gender and I wonder if it's accurate. Obviously nothing's a guarantee, but still.
Me & DH would be happy with either, but deep down I know that he would love for our first to be a son. We're going to try some of the techniques I've researched and see what happens. Anybody doing the same?

I read that women who eat breakfast and specifically have good potassium levels are slightly more likely to have boys. I was already eating a banana every day and I always have breakfast so I'll just make sure I keep doing that because I'd love a boy and so would DH, my dad, and FIL.

For kicks, when trying for our first, I followed the "techniques" for increasing the chances of a girl from TCOYF. We did end up having a girl.
This time, I didn't try anything but just because we had a busy month, in the month that we were got our BFP, we BD at the times most likely to get pregnant with a girl but it looks like we are having a boy (early sono says so at least).
I don't put much stock in these things though and like you said, a happy healthy baby is all I really want.

I think that's pretty cool though that it worked for your first in having a girl. I've never heard if anybody actually succeeded in these 'techniques'. I'm definitely going to try for a boy and see what happens. But if we do end up with a healthy little girl, I know that we'll be just as happy

hey, thanks for that info!
Here are a couple other tips I've found about having a boy (in case you're interested):
1. Right before BD, he should drink a caffeinated beverage (like coffee). This makes the Y-sperm more active to produce a male.
2. Try to have the BIG O during BD. Afterwards, a woman's body produces substances that are more welcoming for the y-sperm (boy).
3. It's also recommended that you BD as early as 24 hours before ovulation to no more than 12 hours past ovulation in order to increase your chances of conceiving a boy.
anyway - - those are just a few. Who knows if they work, but it's worth a try

ITA - - who knows if these techniques actually work! It could all just be coincidence, YWIM? Can't hurt to try though

I had listed a couple tips in a previous post on this thread, but here's some more 
Diet:
To conceive a boy, the mother should consume foods high in sodium and potassium, and minimize her intake of calcium and
magnesium.
To conceive a girl, the mother should consume foods high in calcium and magnesium and avoid foods that are high in sodium and
potassium.
Timing: : To have a boy, the Shettles technique recommends having sex
no earlier than one day before and up to one-half day after ovulation.
To have a girl, he suggests having sex no later than two and one-half to three days prior to ovulation.
This is because the female sperm is stronger and slower, while male sperm is weaker and faster. So if you BD before ovulation, the males will die off before the egg even gets there and the females will still be going strong. However, if you BD right when the egg is available then the males will beat the females to it
Positions: : Typically the missionary position increases your chances of having a girl. Hands and knees or any type of rear entry will help you to conceive a boy.
This is because, deep penetration places the sperm closer to the egg, and gives those aggressive boy sperms a head start. So, a shallow penetration will favor girls and a deeper will favor boys.

once upon a time, i might have thought of it.
i have seen too many friends go through IF to even fathom the idea now. i am beyond blessed to have a happy, healthy baby boy and i don't care if i have 5 other boys, as long as they are equally happy and healthy.

No.. i have no interest in even trying anything like that. Maybe if i already had multiple kids of one gender and really wanted another of the opposite, then i might think about it.
Right now, i just want a baby and i'm concentrating on trying to get that done, not really caring what gender it is. I'll take whatever i can get!

Nope. I always wanted boys, but now I really don't care if we have boys or girls. The way I see it is what's meant to be will be. I had 2 psychics tell me I'll have a boy and then twin girls.

Eh, I'm kind of indifferent. Part of me wants the same sex as my first DC and the other wants the opposite so I get to experience both...so I'll be happy either way.

If these things are true then it looks like I could have a 
Honestly, before I found out I was pregnant, deep down, I really wished to have a daughter but now that I am, it really doesnt matter, I can see myself equally as happy and excited either way. As soon as we can find out, we are going to so I will update this prediction in the later months

I used to really want a  Lately I have been loving 's as well  It's our 7th month of trying and right about now I would honestly take anything I can get. I may consider trying something like this next time around, but right now gender to me doesn't make a difference.

lol. Very true - you're kind of going on 50/50 either way
Personally I've ALWAYS wanted all girls just because that's all i basically grew up with. But as I start TTC I see how much DH wants a son and I'd love to give him that. So preferably I would love to have a boy first and then girls after that. But of course come what may. We'll be happy with whatever we get. It's still worth a try though!!
