Is it safe to lay in the sun?

This weekend is going to be beach weather and I love the sun. Do I have to avoid it now? Of course I would wear sunscreen.

Thanks

As long as you wear sunscreen and keep hydrated it should be fine. My SIL lives in florida and had her son in july last year and was out in the sun practically every day.

I was on vacation in Mexico during each of my pregnancies.

Stay very hydrated. and don't be suprised if you don't last as long as you normally would. I found I would get hot VERY fast.

Re: Is it safe to lay in the sun?

besides overheating, the suns rays are more detrimental to you and your skin than you baby.

your thought about that notwithstanding, stay hydrated and don't let yourself get too warm.

this is the perfect time for virgin pina's and margaritas!!!!!!

there is NOTHING like letting the suns rays warm your skin. I love it. unfortunately, skin cancer runs in my family on both sides, so I have to limit my exposure on the regular.

enjoy this beautiful weather!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

as long as you wear sunscreen and stay hydrated, it's fine. although i am in florida right now, and at 27 weeks it's kinda hard to keep from overheating... i'm also super worried about melasma ("mask of pregnancy"), so i'm not putting my face in the sun at all Chat Icon

Totally fine... I was in Aruba on the beach every day. Just drink a lot of water and wear sunscreen. BTW... I usually tan so nicely and I guess with being prego and hormones and all... I burnt so be careful

Re: Is it safe to lay in the sun?

Yes it's ok...but be aware you'll probably burn more easily. Pregnancy will do that to you, so make sure you've got your sunscreen on and stay hydrated!

Re: Is it safe to lay in the sun?

Just another thought - if you're planning to expose your belly, the skin on it will be stretched and thinner than usual - and therefore more likely to burn and peel. Keep it well moisturized!

It's fine, but remember that you burn more easily when you are pregnant, so wear sunscreen at all times or you will be in a lot of pain!
