The list goes on
Will it ever end? Ok, so some of you might know by now that I have been seeing Dr. Braverman because of my 2 mc's in 6 mos. I only started going what 2 weeks ago and there is a long list of issues. Everytime a test comes back something else is wrong. It is becoming increasingly frightening and depressing. Here is the list (so far b/c we are still waiting for more results)
- 7cm fibroid on the outside of my uterus - hypothyroidism - thyroid antibodies - prothrombin gene mutation (clotting issues)
I don't know how much more I can take, but by the end of the week the rest of the tests should be in and we will be talking about a plan of action. I am looking forward to that because after hearing so many things are wrong I feel hopeless. Although he says everything aside from the fibroid are easily treated. He initially was talking surgery for the fibroid, but is now leaning away from that. (i will be getting a 2nd opinion just because I feel I should) The risks involved are pretty scarey both with having it and without, but they are less if I don't have it. Today I had the hysteroscopy (which was a piece of cake for anyone worried about having it done) and he said the fillopian tubes and the inside of the uterus look great.
I know this is long and I thank you if you have gotten this far. This might belong on the infertility board (and maybe i'll post it there too) but I know more people on this board.....just wanted to let you all know what is going on with me since I haven't been around much. I am hoping thatby this time next month I will be TTC again.

I know how hard it is.. but we're all here for you!
And the more things you figure out that are "wrong" - just means that you'll think of that many more solutions to get you and KEEP you pregnant!
Good luck

I am so sorry you are going through all of this.
I have had to deal with a few of the things on this list myself and I know how overwhelming it can seem.
It is great that you are being diagnosed though, it is a step in the right direction and getting you the care you need and on the road to a healthy pregnancy.
I had a similar size fibroid and I did have surgery-though the risk is scary, there is only a very small chance that the worst will occur. More likely, you will fully recover with a clean bill of health.

Thanks so much! Really you had a myomectomy? It seems like a double edge sword, the risks either way can be awful.......its one of the hardest decisions I am faced with. But for Dr Braverman is leaning away from the surgery now that he saw the inside of the uterus is fine........its so hard to know what the right thing is.

I did-I had laparscopic myomectomy. I don't know if this is an option for you, but the recovery time is much less than with an abdominal myomectomy because they do not cut through muscle (laparscopy is outpatient usually).
We talked about alternatives first, namely hysterectomy (not an option since I wanted children), and embolization, which is where they use lasers to cut the source of the fibroid and it shrinks (too new and untested for me).
In any case, I did research before the surgery and I talked to my doctors at length about the best options for preserving/improving my fertility and the myomectomy was the way to go.

Hmmm. I have to ask him why he hasn't mentioned laproscopy as an option for me. Thats why the risks are so huge b/c this surgery causes an exceptional amount of scar tissue which can actually cause your tubes to close up. I will ask him. Thanks again, this is really helpful.

i saw this and just wanted to say
I also have hashimoto's (hypothyroidism w/ antibodies), factor 5 and prothrombin gene mutation, as well as ulcerative colitis, reynauds syndrome, and some heart defects including a PFO and a bicuspic aortic valve causing an eccentric jet into my thoraic aorta. oh, and im 25.
i was told it would most likely be a LONG road to conception WHEN/IF I tried. Well, I'm 15 weeks pregnant and we WERENT trying! The laundry list of medical "issues" sucks and is scary, but it will happen. Is your TSH under control? It's one of the biggest things in the way of a BFP from what I've been told. Anyway, I dont know where I was going with this other than I wanted to say you're not alone! And send some
