Help!! Feeding my 4 month old

My ds is 4 months and weighs 19lbs 8 1/2 oz. He is a big boy. he was downing 8oz bottles no problem so dr. started him on cereal last month....I gave him 3 tbsp for breakfast, lunch and dinner and knocked his formula intake down to about 32 oz instead of 36-40. So at his 4 month visit dr said he could start fruits and veggies...1 at a time. She said to knock his formula intake down to 24 oz (if I go up to 27oz or so its okay) and give him cereal 2x a day and veggies/fruits in between. Its been tough knocking the formula down so much. Yesterday he had 27oz , cereal for breakfast and dinner and FIVE jars of peas!!!!! Is that normal? And he woke up at 3:30am ..He is teething and dr said his gums are VERY swollen..I hope he didn't wake b/c he's hungry. I gave a pacifier and that eventually put him to sleep. He wouldn't have fallen asleep if he was still hungry right? Is five jars too much?

I would not reduce his formula. If he is hungry feed him. Most of his nourishment should come from formula. My son has cereal 2x per day and fruit in the morning. he has not reduced his fluid inake. He still drinks around 35 ozs per day at least.

Holy Hannah 5 jars of peas I've never heard of that--I would think that's a little much. I would not cut down his formula. He's a big boy--my 4 month old is 18lbs and is big as well.
