I like the photo ones. Right now we can a flowered tin from the cremation place. If I get the photo one, I would have to open it to transfer the ashes. I don't think I want to do that

Honestly, it was not that bad. Our Rottie's ashes were in a tin (and were sealed in a plastic bag as well) and then we just put the whole bag into the urn. I understand what you're going through.

I didn't know there was a plastic bag! That changes things.
I am going to make DH look - I don't want to open it.

Re: Creamated pets
I got three different wooden boxes from Michaels for each of the dogs. Each one is stained a different color.
I transferred a small amount of ashes into a small glass container (also from Michaels) to put inside the wooden box with their tags and a small ceramic heart (Michaels again).
My mom also wanted some of Hershey's ashes so I put some aside from her.
Eventually we took the rest and planted a tree upstate on DH's family property and put all their ashes into the hole.

Re: Creamated pets
Do you/can you request the paw print be done? Will a vet do that?

Same here!!
And at X-Mas time we put the tin in her stocking! Our Chloe girl LOVED X-Mas- she knew which stocking was hers and was so excited to get her presents.

Re: Creamated pets
The cremation company we used for Jenny offered us either the flower tin or a cedar box. We went with the cedar box. We paid extra for it. It came with a metal tag that sticks on and you can have one of 3 passages on it. We chose "we will always love you Jenny".
It's on the top shelf of my entertainment center's display case... we put a nice photo of her in front of it. The ashes are in a plastic bag. I'm not sure, but down the line when we move to a house we plan on staying in we were thinking of creating a memorial garden. We have other pets who some day will pass on too. We thought we can bury the boxes with the ashes in them in the garden. PS. I put the little lock on the box... neither DH or I could stand to take the ashes out of the plastic bag. So I know what you are going through. I'm not sure you ever have to.

Re: Creamated pets
I actually made one similar to the photo box. It was hard to transfer the ashes but they are in a plastic bag, so we just kept it in there. But it is on the counter with his picture & collar drapped around it.
