confused about when to see an obgyn! please help!
hi girls! i hardly post here (but lurk a lot) since DH and i are not really TTC yet, but we are getting closer and closer to starting and i already have so many questions!
so here's my question for today..... i see my gyno regularly but she is not an obgyn. when i told her that we were planning on TTC early this year, she didn't say much. all she did say was that i had to lose weight  but that's a whole other issue! i sorta feel like i should be doing something more. like.....should i be trying to find an obgyn? should i see one before i'm pregnant or wait until it happens? are there tests that need to be run before i start TTC? if i make an appt with an obgyn now, what do i ask them?
thanks for any and all help! i'm feeling so confused!

I don't think you need any tests done before TTC.
I would try to find an ob/gyn that you like an are comfortable and make sure you have a up-to-date pap if you want to be ahead of the game.
Other than that, just go for it

i am in the same boat as u. my dr's practice is no longer delivering babies. so i figured since we will be TTC sometime this year i just start going to dr that does do babies so i can get comfortable with them and start a relationship. so my advice to u is find a new ob for ur next annual exam so by the time u are prego will have at least seen them one time before ur 1st prenatal visit.

that's what i was thinking too. i actually go to the gyno more than annually because my paps sometimes show mild displaysia (sp), but it's never anything to worry about. what overwhelms me is trying to find an obgyn...i don't even know where to start! i live in westchester and don't know other girls in the area so i have nobody to get recommendations from i may just start going through our insurance list and making appointments but that seems really daunting too!

If you going to start TTC you might also want to start on PreNatal vitamins.

thanks! i thought of that too but i'm already taking a multi with folic acid (i think 500mg) and i take an omega 3 everyday. i thought i read somewhere that that's probably enough until i'm actually pregnant. is that right?
