I am home and a mommy!!
I finally have a minute to sit down and get on the computer! Thank you to Betsy and Shannon for updating everyone and for all your sweet comments! We are so moved by all your well wishes!
We came home with the babies yesterday (sat) and I am so excited to introduce my new son and daughter, so without further adieu -
Jonah David
5lb 1oz, 18 1/2 inches
born at 6:21pm 12/30/08
and
Madelyn Rose
4lbs 15oz, 18 1/2 inches
born at 6:22 pm 12/30/08
The c-section wound up being later than we thought because there were two people ahead of me when I got there and then one of my doctors was called to an emergency.
I will post a full birth story at a later date, but the worst part of the whole thing was getting the epidural. The anesthesiologist had problems getting the catheter in and was trying for an hour. I spent that entire time hunched over my huge belly and got stuck like 10 times. I was so scared that after the whole lovenox thing I was going to have to go under general anyway, but finally he got it and the surgery was underway. My recovery hasn't been too bad at all, I was expecting a lot worse. It was a little more difficult because my back was very sore because of all the epi attempts. Unfortunately we couldn't get enough cord blood because the babies were small. They tried to get what they could out of the placentas, but the company called and said they had only collected half of the minimum what they really need to store, so we opted to discard it. I am disappointed, but what can you do? St. Catherine's was wonderful, all the nurses there are amazing.
I absolutely LOVE being a mommy, it is the most incredible thing in the world. I can't believe these two little perfect miracles came out of me. I am so in love with them and with my DH. He is the most wonderful daddy ever and we are so happy with our new family. I am sad to being leaving pregnancy behind, I can't believe my belly is gone. Now I just look fat, lol. I miss feeling them move around inside me, but being able to hold them, kiss them and cuddle them is the best thing ever.
Breastfeeding is going ok. My milk came in today finally and my boobies are sore. Both babies are latching and suckling, which is great. The ped wanted me to supplement with formula until my milk came in because the babies are small. We have an appointment tomorrow so hopefully we can stop with the formula. Feeding takes such a long time between the nursing and the FF, it will be nice to knock some time off, and hopefully soon I will be able to nurse them both at the same time.
Anyway, I am sure you all want to see pictures, so I won't make you wait any longer!

COngrats! they are sooo beautiful! I have tears in my eyes. I feel like i have watched the progression of your pregnancy from the begining and its so beautiful to see the end results. CONGRATS on your family! and go you for finding the time to get on the comp!
