Anyone else's doctors nto let you make an appointment until a certain time?
I called today (got my BFP on Friday night) and the way they do it is they bring you in for JUST a bloodtest first. Then, after you get the results, they bring you in for your first appointment.
Well, the woman wouldnt even let me make an appointment for the blood test until AF is 10 days late. I got my BFP 11DPO (so AF was due today) and I've already taken 2 tests to confirm it. I understand that they dont want to see me yet, but why cant I even make the appointment???
Anyone else's doctor do this?

It is very common, my Dr. wouldn't see me for the first time until I was 8 weeks PG.
Alot of Dr.s want you to have missed a second cycle.

Unfortunatley it is common. Irritating, but common.

Ok I feel better knowing its common. I was ready to cry when I hung up the phone -- I'm so worried something is going to happen between now and then and I wont even know
Plus, the way the nurse asked how "late" I was and how many tests I took, she made it seem like I wasnt really pregnant. I know thats absurd, but its just the way she phrased the questions and responded to my answers. I'm sure its just that she felt it was too early to be calling to make an appointment

A lot of drs won't see you until you're 8 weeks. It's nervewracking between now and then but that's what we're here for.

Thank God!
I've been analyzing every cramp and twinge these past few days. I thought I'd be estatic when we got our BFP, but instead I've been a nervous wreck. I'm sure everything will be fine, but I guess mommy-mode kicks in and you become a worry-wart

It sounds like the receptionist you spoke to was a little insensitive to you. I wouldnt say that's normal. Also, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to set up your first blood work appt?! Like the other girls have said, it is common that the Dr.'s wait till around 8 weeks to see you, but like I said, you should have been able to at least set up the appt for that time. Strange. Anyway, the very begining of the pregnancy is definitely nervewracking. Just try and stay positive and I'm sure everything will work out fine.

Yes. My doctor doesn't want to see me until 7.5 weeks. The first time I was pregnant I made them see me at 5 weeks because I had a history of ovarian cysts, but I lost the baby.
This time, our first appointment will be at the same time our last appointment was for the last pregnancy.

yea, thats what I found weird -- she wouldnt even let me set up the appointment. And this is an Army hospital, so its VERY difficult to get appointments. So, all I wanted to do was make the appointment while I had them on the phone so that I dont call back in 10 days and have them say "we dont have anything for another 5 weeks"

It does seem strange that they wouldn't let you make an appointment, but I wouldn't worry. It may take at least 6 weeks to get a regular appointment at my doctor's office, but they seem to always have slots open for pregnant patients. I've never had a problem scheduling an appointment 2-4 weeks in advance.
