Re: Disability

I bet if you did some googling, you could find the appropriate procedures.

It is really so complicated-- there should be something published out there to guide the process and to protect pregnant women in the workplace.

sounds like based on your experiences there-- it wouldn't hurt to put together a list of some employment lawyers.

Unfortunately, your hands are tied-- since if you don't look into it yourself, you are the only one who gets hurt.

Try posting on NFR and asking HR people their opinions-- I think a lot of girls on the board work in HR and can probably shed some light and help you sort everything out.

Yah I know, thats why I posted this...there is so much more to the equation than just the lack of knowledge with maternity leave, but its getting out of hand...I actually spoke to a lawyer on the LIRR that overhear me talking to someone on the train, and told her the entire story, and she was actually pleading for me to sue..so we'll see....

Re: Disability

I'm pretty sure your employer does it. If I remember correctly, I didn't have to do anything to get the NYS disability. Each employer can choose a different company to carry their disability insurance so the claim usually needs to go through them, since they know who they use and that company's procedures. You will probably have to get forms filled out by your doc, but I'm pretty sure in my case my HR just faxed the forms to my doc and everything got taken care of for me.

I'm sorry you've been having such problems with your company.

Re: Disability

Thanks! I think I just get state disability and looking at the paperwork it says that I have to send it in filled out to my employer, but I have to fill it out, so I'm going to do that fill it out and send it back to the them, so they can officially send it in I guess....

hey you, i would officially do everything myself...meaning...fill it out, have your dr sign it, and make 2 copies, (then youll have 3 of them) mail one YOURSELF, and mail it certified so you have proof of mailing..so you can get in touch with your OWN claim rep..once you get it, they will give you your own claim number you can check on the status of your claims and ask any questions etc...then give one to your employer to mail (dont tell him you mailed it as well, let him do his job!!) and then keep one for your records..
if you have any questions fm me, ive been doing this forever!!
