My baby brother got a hundred dollar ticket
fpr using his metrocard (given from school) on Columbus Day. who knew?! poor kid. he's writing a letter to say he didn't know he couldn't...but I guess since he had no school, he wasn't supposed to.
I guess it'll come out of his bday gift..he turns 18 on Halloween.

If school is not in session, metro cards cannot be used.

Re: My baby brother got a hundred dollar ticket
unfortunately it is true they can't be used if school is not in session, i used to be in charge of metrocards in one school i worked at, i don't think they really inform the students about the rules of using metrocards

Re: My baby brother got a hundred dollar ticket
okay i understand giving them rules and saying that they can't use them on non-school days. but why can't they just send him a bill for the fee it charged to the card?? $100 is a bit excessive. maybe a $10 penalty to repeat offenders or something.
And if they want to make such crazy rules, why don't they make them sign something that tells them the rules for using it!

Re: My baby brother got a hundred dollar ticket
yeah, I thought it was excessive.
I am all for following the rules and if he was wrong, so be it...but damn...$100 bucks is STEEP for a $2 offense!
Janice...I am dying inside. My baby sister just turned 16 too.
