Leaking??? UPDATED

It never ends.... how do I know if i'm leaking amniotic fluid or if its just increased discharge ( sorry TMI) ??

I was sitting on the couch earlier, kind of reclined backwards and when I got up, there was a wet mark! As soon as I stood up, I could tell my pants were a little wet. Went to the bathroom to make sure no bleeding or anything. Then I went for a walk and all seemed fine. I laid down for a while and fell asleep. When I woke up.... sheets were a little damp!!!



Its clear, whatever it is... but how do I know for sure?? UGH!!! Please help I'm so frustrated.....

Update: They did the paper test and its not amniotic fluid. They did monitor our little Gianna though again last night and although the arrythmia is still very much a concern for us, she was active and has dropped ALOT. I can finally breathe again! I also was told that I was having lots of contractions during the monitoring.... but I didnt feel any of them. They are still really irregular, but hey.. its a start!! Thanks for your advice girls =)

hmmm.....you're about 2 weeks away from your due date, right? Could be your water breaking. Just thinking some happy thoughts. I'm gonna guess you're going into labor a couple weeks early. You may just see your baby soon!!!

I asked my Ob this question at my last visit. He said amniotic fluid is the consistency of water so if you were to just stand there with your underwear down then if you are leaking it should trickle down your leg. Outside of that increased moisture is to be expected.

ETA: Oh yeah, he also said that leaking is leaking. It shouldn't "really" leak a few drops once and then stop all together. At least, that was his thinking.

Our lamaze coach told us to try this trick...

take off you underwaer and pants. Just put on a t-shirt. Lay down for about 30 minutes andtry to keep still. After 30 minutes get up and walk around. If you are leaking then you should feel a warm trickle down your leg. If you still aren't sure call the dr and they can use the paper test to see if it is amniotic fluid.
