It took me a long time to get over that time in my life, but I am a stronger person and a better Mother because of it though.
This is my daily prayer....

You are so courageous and strong, you should be so proud of yourself for leaving behind such a dangerous situation.

Sorry to hear.
How did you find the WILL to leave?
It was a few factors, but in the end my father and sister came and brought me and K back home...
When I thought I was suffering from PPD.... it was/is actually Battered Woman's Syndrome.
Maybe if your comming clean you should be honest and tell the whole story on how you came home.. I think if your going to post something like this, and everyone is being so wonderful and supportive you should do the right thing for once and tell them..

i don't see how giving explicit details on how she came home would help anyone on here.
and i think she did the right thing 'for once' - she LEFT an abusive marriage! what more do we need to know? (i, for one, do NOT need to know any further details)

I agree 100%.
So many women don't leave and I don't think we need to talk about what happens. I hope that by Kristina sharing her story that other women on the board will get the strength and courage to leave.

i'm confused
you WANT her to give details, or you don't'?
or are you just looking for kudos because you're partly responsible for her leaving?

You are 100% correct, people need strong women as role models, those who are strong, those who care and take a chance and get involved when its not necessary or other people would say Its not my business.
but I am not that friend, I always stick my neck out, I am always the lost cause friend, I always get involved many times then not - because I know all too well what its like to be scared and alone.. anywayyyyyyyy,
HEALING starts with the truth thats all I am saying..

Lisa, Im so proud of you. You are so strong and you are an amazing mother. Regardless of how you came home, the point is, your're here! I too was a victim of Domestic Abuse, years ago, at the hands of my ex-fiance. I lived out of state and while he was sleeping one night, I packed what I could, met my dad at the airport, and we drove home together. I went to a DV support group, VIBS, and that helped me tremendously. Please FM if you want to talk or need some direction on available help.

Re: NPR but it's time I come clean...
Theresa, clearly you know something the rest of us don't... but simply alluding to it here instead of either posting real facts or dealing with this with the OP via FM isn't really helpful. It seems you DO know something important, but dealing with it this way just comes off as passive-aggressive.... and I am assuming that's not what you are meaning to do.

same here
it was an ex-bf - lived together at the time
it wasn't until he put a gun to my head, that i knew i had to get out
4:30 in the morning, i made my exit
took EVERYTHING i could - from the knobs on the stove, to the shower head, to the toilet paper holder! petty, i know - but anything that i could do to make HIS life just a little more miserable - i did it!
best move i EVER made!
(beside marrying my soulmate of course )
