born free bottles

Does anyone have the problem of the nipple collapsing when you are feeding your baby? Why does it do this!?

I agree. I don't use that brand but I always go up to the next flow nipple when they suck so hard the nipple goes into the bottle.

Re: born free bottles

Wanted to add.... that's not just with the BF's.... it's with any bottle.

If Ava is collapsing her nipples, then that means that her suck is getting stronger, and she needs stage 2's.

she has been collapsing these nipples since she was 6 weeks old and she will be 12 weeks tomorrow! Chat Icon Do you think I should purchase the next size or just open the hole up a little more using a sewing needle or something?Chat Icon

I would actually do both.... Kristina has the BF's as well.... I bought her the stage 2's when it was time, and they were a little too fast flowing for her. So I opened up her size 1's and put them back on until she was ready for the size 2's.

Test them (size 2's) out on Ava first tho b4 you start going through the trouble of opening the nips! Chat Icon

Re: born free bottles

At that age it is probably that you need the faster flow nipples BUT also make sure you're not tightening the collar too much - that'll collapse the nipples too.

ooh ok! I tend to tighten them pretty good.. i should pay m ore attention to that in the next few bottles and see if it makes a difference. Thank you all for your replies!Chat Icon

i have the same bottles and DS collapsed them from about 4 weeks. he was NOT ready for the next stage nipples--i tried them and they were way too fast. he is 10 weeks now and still collapses them. i just pull it out of his mouth when it happens.

i really think it's a design flaw with the BFree bottles
