Very scary night in the ER.... - Update 8/7
Apparently my low lying placenta is officially placenta previa...Out of no-where at 8pm, standing in my kitchen, all of a sudden a gush of bright red (before this I've only had brown spotting) ...OB sent me straight to ER- sono tech said baby looked great, HB 143 thankfully, but now I am on complete bed rest until further notice if the placenta moves, or until the baby is born ...I am so upset for my poor almost 3yo DS - Cant understand why mommy cant get up to play or pick him up...My DH took off a few days and then we are going to have to figure out a plan of who can help me during the day with him...My OB really scared the daylights out of me, discussing transfusions, pre-mature birth etc...I'm not even supposed to be on my computer right now, my DH is getting me a laptop in the morning....The bleeding has slowed up quite a bit, but the OB told me to be prepared to make weekly trips to the ER anyhow...Please say a for my little one if you can spare it, we can use all the we can right now, being as I am only 17 weeks along...
Update Thurs 8/7- Just got back from my OB appointment...Baby is still looking great and it definately is full placenta previa...As of today, the bleeding has just about stopped , so he said I need to have to really take it easy for 7 days from when the bleeding has stopped and then I can go to modified bed-rest, basically taking it easy, staying off my feet as much as possible...He also said that the most crucial time period is from 24-30 weeks, because at that time, had I had the bleeding I experienced the other day, they would have delivered the baby prematurely at Stony Brook ...He said at that point, they would have a hard time telling if the blood was maternal blood or from my baby...I just hope and pray that this goes away and if not, that my bleeding stays put until 36 weeks which is when they will deliver if the previa is still present...He also said there is no way of knowing if I will bleed again or I may never have another episode again- talk about nerve wracking!...In the meantime, I'm taking it as easy as possible and trying to work out the wrinkles of who will help me with my little guy when DH is working...Thank You all for your support and - You have no idea how much it means

I am so sorry to hear about your placenta previa and bed rest. As a fellow poster with placenta previa, who is going to be on bedrest as of this coming Sunday I completely understand everything you are going through and will be sending prayers your way everyday!

Re: Very scary night in the ER....
I'm glad to hear that everything is ok with the baby!!!
Having a laptop will be the best thing--I was confined to bed for a month last summer when I threw out my back, and there are only so many books you can read and naps you can take (and episodes of A Wedding Story you can stomach ). I was probably surfing the web about 6 hours a day!
Take care of yourself!

Re: Very scary night in the ER....
I am sorry I had the same thing happen to me I know how scary it is mine resolved by 20 weeks so at least its early and still has the potential to correct itself and yes be prepared to go to the ER frequently I think I went 4 times in one week at one point the bleeding was so bad they said I may need a transfusion luckly I never did...I am that all will be OK I know that bedrest is hard but you'll be amazed who will be willing to come and help I have been on bed rest for over a month I hope that you find someone to help with the little guy hang in there hopefully it will move up soon
ETA having a laptop is a god send I am thankfull to have one or I would be going bonkers...
