So depressed - back to work and fat
I cannot believe how many times this week people thought I was still pregnant! One person even said "I thought you'd lose the belly by now?".
I know I need to do WW and start fitting in some serious working out. I still feel discomfort from time to time though where my c-section was done and I'm afraid to hurt anything inside since I want more babies, maybe even by next year.
If it wasn't bad enough to have to go back to work (and people making me feel bad about putting "such a small baby" in daycare), now I feel so bad about my body. This s*cks. People ask me if I'm pregnant more now than they did when I was 5 months pregnant! What happened to people not assuming and not asking for fear of offending? I would never ask such a question. If anything ask "how's the baby doing?" This way if the person is preggers still they can say "oh any day now" or "X amount of weeks left" and if they had the baby they can say "oh she's doing great, here's a picture..." It saves face either way and the new mom doesn't have to feel like sh*t about herself. Hey, I know I gained weight, I know I'm 3 sizes larger than I was and I don't have any help with my child so working out was low priority. I'm not proud of it, but people don't have to shove it in my face. I'm going to buy more suits and cover up this nasty body... wish me luck on these hot summer days - I'll be sweating my *ss off. I've been wearing empire waisted blouses with black pants, but I guess they must look like maternity tops. I just don't want anything hugging my midsection and all the "rolls". I'm gross I know, but didn't think people needed to rub my face in it. Then they try to undo it by saying "oh it will come off, it's just that your so tiny (short), it takes time". Ugh!

Re: So depressed - back to work and fat
I am so sorry but, OMG, HOW RUDE CAN PEOPLE BE????? This was my biggest fear after I had DS. For some reason it took my belly a LONG time to go back down. But, one day, it magically did. Until then, spanx were my best friend - if you don't have them, GET THEM. I have like four different styles
That said - that is UNBELIEVABLY rude! And, you know what, at 11 mos pp although I have lost most of the weight - I STILL was in better shape 5mos pg because I had something I don't have now - TIME to work out! You know what, your a mom now - your priorities change and your time changes - one day your body will get back go normal and you will forget all about this time. Anyway, I know I am rambling - I am tired but, I felt so bad readintgt your post i wanted to respond

Wow, first of all you need to stop beating yourself up!!!! Its only been a couple months right??
Losing weight takes time. And to all those idiots who say those insensitive things to you tell them to keep their rude comments to themselves.
You need to give yourself a break and stop being so hard on yourself - the weight will come off eventually. As for still feeling some discomfort, have you asked your doctor about it?

Re: So depressed - back to work and fat
That is horrible- please do not let these people bother you. I know how hard it is to go back to work while you are still adjusting to being a Mom. I am still adjusting and my DS is 6 months old.
I agree about the Spanx-they are a lifesaver. take it easy on yourself too. Remember- 9 months to gain, usually about 9 months to lose it all. It has taken a long time for my c-section incision to feel better- I still feel soreness/pulling when I exert myself six months later. so exercising can be really hard.
Please concentrate on healing and remember that you are a great Mom- and doing so much- the weight will come off too- just give it time and try to tune out those rude idiots.

Thank you, I was so sad but yet at the same time I was mad at myself for feeling bad... I wasn't sitting around eating chips on the couch - I brought a beautiful baby into the world who I am so proud of. You are so right - I'm an avid believer in the necessity of exercise, but as a working mother who values her time with her baby and who doesn't want to get fired for neglecting her job responsibilities... there are only so many hours in a day. I feel bad about leaving DD all day, so to come home and leave her again to work out just isn't something I want to do. I'm exhausted by the time she goes to sleep, plus I have to wash all the bottles of the day and prepare everything for the next day to start it all again at 6AM. It's a viscous cycle - I wish there were more hours in the day and/or I didn't require sleep in my life. Then I'd work out all night long
As for Spanx, I couldn't find them but I went to Century 21 and found some body shapers and either I couldn't pour my body into them, or they caused a roll (bulge) at the top of my stomach (guess they weren't cut high enough?) or they hurt where my c-section was. I ended up returning a whole bunch. Could you recommend where you got the Spanx, what style (like a panty or something) and how to figure out the sizing? At Century 21 the woman in the department couldn't be bothered measuring me, so I guessed at the size and returned everything annoyed so I didn't try to buy more. I take it these things are supposed to be VERY tight? But how tight?

Exactly!
Deep down I know the time thing is an excuse, but seriously, I just don't have it. I know people that do it, just somehow the clock is not my friend or something, my job requires some afterhours attention too, but when I come home from work and get my computer stuff dealt with, all I do is feed, change and play with DD. I give HER plenty of exercise and when it's not gross out I do go for a walk with her in the stroller... guess that's just not enough though.

I buy them at Lord and Taylor or Bloomingdales. I think I'm technically just about a size b but I buy the size a b/c the size b isn't tight enough I honestly have a whole collection I'm telling you these things were lifesavers post partum - for MONTHS - and, even now I sometimes wear them
Anyway, I have the stockings and:
These
And
These
the ones with the leg part are good under dresses and the other ones are good under pants/jeans.
Good luck and seriously, I just looked at your profile and saw you are only 2.5 mos pp - OMG - PLEASE do not let these people get to you. Everyone's body is different - I gained 30lbs while pg and at 2 mos pp I had lost alot of it BUT - I till looked 5 mos pg - my belly just took a longgggg time to go down....don't worry - all that matters is your beautiful baby

Re: So depressed - back to work and fat
Thanks I just ordered the Spanx on line and got the Hide & Sleek Hi-Rise Body Smoother. I hope it helps. I already told DH that when I'm done having kids I'm doing Lipo-suction, a tummy tuck and a breast lift.
However, while on maternity leave I did see and episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 and Kate had the Tummy tuck thing - it looked like it was more painful and worse recovery than a c-section. So I'm not sure now... but that's in a few years... I'll be about 40 - so it'll be time for some cosmetic surgery.

Re: So depressed - back to work and fat
I am right there with you. With my daughter all the weight was off by my 6 week PP check up. This time, I don't look pregnant I just look huge. My boobs are just out of control and my milk never comes in so I don't understand it. I am 2-3 sizes larger than I was after my daughter I am disgusted by it. I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I have been going to the gym and I am not seeing much. I just signed up for Nutrisystem tonight. I have to go back to work in 4 weeks and at this point will not fit into any of my work clothes.

Re: So depressed - back to work and fat
I was the same exact way after I had DC - and it took me over a year to lose all the weight and I was very active. But I just don't have the time I used to to work out, so I'm still not as fit as I used to be. But going back to work was awful - couldn't ft into anything - I went back at 2 mts post partum...
As for the idiots who asked why I'm putting him into daycare so young, I would ask them - do YOU want to pay my bills? If so, I'll gladly stay home. That usually shut them up!
