How long do you wait?

I'm in a situation where its possible I may be preg. My AF is 5 days late, and I took a test but it came out negative.

I want to know how long is normal to wait before taking a test? Also I know there can be false negatives, so when should I retest if AF doesn't come?

I'm hiding my identity as I don't want people I know to find my post on the board.

Wait a week and then test again. It is possible you ovulated late or had an anovulatory cycle.
