Help me with food please...
I just don't understand what I can feed DS. It's like I have a mental block.
He's almost 11 months old.
I send him to daycare with yogurt for breakfast and still Stage 2 baby food for lunch.
Dinner is a Stage 3 baby food.
I know he needs to eat more "real" solids, but I can't figure out what to give him.
I expecially don't understand what to send him to daycare with.
I am not a cook at all, so I'm feeling lost.
Help a mama out? TIA

Re: Help me with food please...
Since he's on Stage 4, I think the best thing you can do is to start giving him what you're eating cut up in teeny tiny bits.
I'll try to get my daycare menu monthly again & start posting it online.

Re: Help me with food please...
I know they say a year, but I fed DD scrambled eggs with spinach when she was 11 months old. I know they can't do it at daycare, but maybe for dinner?

Re: Help me with food please...
Thank you for posting this...I swear I was just thinking it.
I do the same as you and I am by the fact that he eats it all at daycare but not at home.
Here are some things I am starting to give him:
Meatball/Meatloaf Mini Muffins Cheese slices (broken up) Pastina with Sweet Potato (mashed or pureed) Apple pieces (steamed first to soften but not mashed) Mashed potatoes Grilled Cheese Sandwich (starting that this weekend) Pizza Brown Rice and small veggies (carrots & peas)

Re: Help me with food please...
For Daycare, I usually send DD with some pasta I made in advance with either sauce or just butter and cheese. Sometimes I throw in some organic frozen veggies.

Re: Help me with food please...
Emma is a year tomorrow and I send her with Stage 2 baby food for lunch still. For dinner at home she will have a Stage 3. She does get pancakes, waffles, cut up chicken and real veggies on occassion and can chew them for the most part, but I'm not in a rush and I have a lot of baby food to use up. Oh and sometimes I give her the Gerber Graduates potatoes, or sweet potatoes with carrots...those are good for daycare foods. I will probably pack those when we are finished with what I have on hand.

Re: Help me with food please...
DS is going to be one on the 17th. I'm still sending him to daycare with Stage 2 ceral and fruit in a jar or yogurt and Stage 2 dinners for lunch. I am SO glad you posted this!! He doesn't like Stage 3 dinners - he gags on them. I think it has to do with the mostly pureed texture with some "surprising" lumps of meat and pasta and veggies. I have given him small pieces of bread, cut up ravilios or pasta, Gerber lil meals, Gerber diced fruit, sweet potato cubes, etc., but only at home. I really need advice on what to pack for daycare too!

Re: Help me with food please...
I give Josh whatever we are eating.
Its got us eating healtier since I make sure he always gets a veggie.
Before a year, I was always making soups or stews...not to give him the liquid, but to make sure food still had flavor, but was cooked soft.
Start with chicken broth, throw in a can of black beans, some carrots, celery, potatos, can of diced tomatos, corn, pieces of chicken...
peas is still his staple...
whole wheat pasta

Re: Help me with food please...
Really easy for non-cooks- put a sweet potato in the oven at 400 degrees and cook until mushy. My DD loves this.
I also buy the frozen veggies that can be reheated in the microwave- then I don't have to worry about having veggies on hand.
Homemade chicken noodle soup- this way you know its not loaded with salt.
Cut-up pieces of chicken or cheese- try different types- my DD actually loves chedder.
Even tufo works since its easy to swallow.
She also love pretezels, pirate's booty, and goldfish for snacks.
We were still doing stage 2 for day care at 11 months- it was easy to pack and you know she is getting nutrients.

They gross me out so much!!
Just the name....meat sticks.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. And it's good to know I'm not the only mom who still gives Stage 2s.
