you shouldn't stop completely... i stretched the hours longer and longer between pumping and that helped. i stopped in a few days.

I made the same mistake - do not stop cold turkey!!!! I still shudder from the pain!
Pump a little each day to relieve the pressure - its better to do it slowly than just stop altogether.

I weaned Matty gradually- I cut out one feeding every three days. Took a total of two weeks and I never had any pai. So, if you are pumping, cut out one session every three days- my lc advised this.

Yah it is going to hurt for awhile mine did for like a week and OUCH it did hurt
It look like i got boob implants
Don't take hot showers cause that will make it come out more.
Just keep on massing them so u get an infection.
I know how u feel it will go away soon.
Oh and wear a tight bra and pads

thanks so much girls!! I actually went out and bought Motrin and that helped ALOT!!!! I also pumped a little out this morning..but I saw STARS when I did it. I'll continue with the Motrin!!

The midwife in my Dr's office told me to take regular Sudafed- something in it helps dry up your supply. I was engorged and in pain, even after weaning, and the Sudafed REALLY helped!
that makes some sense...sudafed works by drying up membrames.
also, if you were BFing, you can't just STOP cold turkey (for a variety of reasons). if you go to the nestle good start website, they have a chart for how to wean from BF to formula (only eliminating 1 feeding a day at a time) and they rec. about 2 weeks. i think it's verybestbaby.com
it's also how they rec. you switch from one formula to another as well. this is also to benefit your baby so their tummies/digestive systems go through less shell shock.
