Twelve Angry Men. It doesn't matter whether it's the original or the remake. Both are fantastic.

Erin Brokovich.

Most of them are totally unrealistic, just fun to watch.

I don't know if this is a good one, but one of my favorite movies is The Rainmaker with Matt Damon.

Are you looking to entertain the students or use the movies as teaching tools?

Unfortunately, many "law" movies and "law" TV shows take shortcuts and/or get things so very, very obviously wrong on even the most basic principles of law and evidence. Things go on that would never happen in reality. Though I have to admit enjoying John Grisham books and movies, some of them are very far-fetched.

I do agree with the recommendation of "Reversal of Fortune." Jeremy Irons is just bone-chilling and it is very interesting to see a case from the appellate perspective.

Re: Good "law" movies

not exactly what you are looking for - but there is an awesome united streaming video on jury trials. I used it to introduce mock trials to my TAG class last year. It kinda cheesy (think 80's movie), but it explained a lot of the issues of a trial. And the trial was about a "hot" stereo, which my students thought was hysterical.

I found this list of the top 10 movies every law student should see.

It immediately discounts 12 Angry Men, though, which I think would be a great choice.

I looked at the list. I'm long out of law school, but I disagree about leaving off 12 Angry Men. Make sure to show the original, the remake is lousy.

I agree with Inherit the Wind, Anatomy of a Murder, Witness for the Prosecution & Presumed Innocent. I dislike Gregory Peck's acting style, so To Kill a Mockingbird was not my favorite.
