Spinoff to sandwiches.....been meaning to ask this forever

Does anyone actually heat their coldcuts to steaming?

I don't know, but it sounds pretty unappetizing to me.

What do you do, heat them to steaming and then eat them hot, or do you let them cool off and then make a sammy?

The whole process sounds a little nauseating......

I would make grilled chese with ham or turkey. The meats would get hot enough to be steaming.

No, I just don't eat them, except for pasteurized cheese. I haven't heard that's bad, though I like to melt that anyway. It does sound disgusting.

I used to put them in the microwave for 30 seconds per lbs as soon as I got home from grocery shopping, let them cool and then put them in the refrigerator. By the time I would make a sandwich, they had cooled and tasted the same.

I grill the meat up in a frying pan. Heated smoked ham is SOOO good that way. I prefer my sandwiches warm anyway. I hate cold coldcuts, except for Italian heros.

Re: Spinoff to sandwiches.....been meaning to ask this forever

a grilled ham or cheese sandwich is a totally different story, I love those!!!

I guess the thought of putting turkey or bologna in the microwave just rubs me the wrong way.....

No. I havent eaten that many sanwiches but as long as the deli is clean and the food is fresh... I think its fine to eat regular.

One of those things I have not worried about. I have one of those "everything in moderation" really laid back doctors.

No heating up cold cuts here.... I am such a rebel Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to sandwiches.....been meaning to ask this forever

I have not heated up any cold cuts. I have them no more than once a week and I get them from a place that I know has a good turnover.

Re: Spinoff to sandwiches.....been meaning to ask this forever

i have eaten cold cuts in the beg. BUT heated it in the micro with cheese and melted it .. it was only turkey breast.. I did not comsume alot.

Then i stopped after reading alot on it. and cannot wait to have the baby so i can eat all the cold cuts i want. you can def. live without it. I have.

make chicken cutlets and make sandwhiches from that.. there are other ways

I eat cold cuts but I buy them fresh every few days. I won't eat them if they are more than 3 days old. My Dr said they were fine as long as they weren't prepackaged.

My doctor told me that as long as the deli or grocery store has a high turnover rate with their cold cuts (if they are usually very busy) then eating the cold cuts without heating should be fine. She said that if I get cold cuts from the store to not eat them after 3 days.
