Spin-off: Satisfying Life

What's the one thing... the thing that makes you think, "if i didnt have this to deal with; if this were resolved; etc... My life would be satisfied?

Now, I know it could turn into a deep "Are any of us ever completely happy" sort of thing... but I'm thinking more about the 1 thing that'seither the thorn in our side, missing from our lives, etc....

Re: Spin-off: Satisfying Life

Right now, I'd say it would be money. It's the focus of my entire universe and everything pretty much hinges on it. It used to be my weight but now it's all about the lack of $$$ I'm having. Especially moving into the world of being a single parent, it's a tremendous concern to me.

Definitely money...If I didn't have to worry about paying my bills and where the next dollar was coming from, my life would be sooooooooo easy.

Re: Spin-off: Satisfying Life

I used to say if I only had xyz then my life would be great... and then I got xyz and I learned that you don't get soemthing for nothing. So I don't do that anymore.

BUT for the fun of the thread...if I didn't have to worry about daycare for my child when he/she is born next year, I would be able to RELAX and not stress out every time someone asks me what we're going to do when the baby is born.

For me, it's just finishing the nursing program already. I'll probably always be in school, and intend on going back in a few years to become a NP, but I'm just ready to be a nurse already. I already did the Bachelor's thing, andi'm SO over the feeling that every test can either make or break you. i just want to be DONE already. Chat Icon

Other than that, i honestly feel like i couldn't ask for more out of life than what it has already given me. Chat Icon

Re: Spin-off: Satisfying Life

Probably losing weight. With money we are satisfied with what we have, and I know more money doesn't bring happiness. Although, maybe just enough to buy a house. Also, a teaching job would make me happy!

IL issues.

Everything else in my life is exactly the way I always dreamt of it being.

I guess there's no such thing as perfection, right?

Re: Spin-off: Satisfying Life

Our Debt. It makes me constantly worry. If I had just our monthly bills we would be fine. We are not " money" people....we could live in a box if we were together but our finacial situation affects so many aspects of our lives in such a horrible way.

And or my weight. I know I was internally more happy and carefree and confident etc when I was thin , I havent felt that way since.

Everything else I am 100% happy with in life.

Re: Spin-off: Satisfying Life

I'm probably going to be the minority here, but I can honestly say that there is nothing.

I don't have much that weighs on my mind. Not being a homeowner at 35 years old could probably have become something I'd get angry over. But I've had a great time in the past 8 years with DH and don't regret the things we spent the money on.

I've been very lucky. If anything, I wait for something bad to happen, because I know things can't always be this good.

I, too, am very happy with my life. I'm sure that there are things we don't have that we would like to have, but I can't imagine being more happy with my DH and our life just the way it is. I just hope we're always so lucky.

Re: Spin-off: Satisfying Life

Okie my DH ad Microeconomics Prof will be proud of my answer:

Everyone has wants/wishes/desires but most just use want and need. The only way a want is possible is if you have the means and the situation is possible at this moment. A wish is if you don't have the means and the situation is possible or vice versa. A desire is when you don't have the means and the situation is not possible.
I desire having my mom and dad back. I wish the war would end and we could be at peace. I don't want anything because I am satisfied with my life path at this moment.

Oh yeah, I know someone who is going to get an A in this class. *happy dance*

It's not a thorn in my side but the fact that my parents & older sister have to walk on eggshells over where they're spending the holidays bothers me.

I'm not sure if the resolution to that would bother me even more though.
