Question about DC legs...

Ava has always had one leg that turns in slightly, kind of pidgeon toed. The dr. always tells me it's not a problem and that it just stemmed from being breech and it will correct itself. Now that she's walking, I don't see it as much, but my mother is FREAKING out on me, telling me that there's something wrong with me for not getting a second opinion and that I shouldn't trust the dr. I feel like it's nothing to worry about, but just something to keep an eye on. Did anyone's DC have this problem then have it correct itself? I'm about ready to smack my mother because she is driving me nuts over this. I think that at 11 months old, it's a little much to start seeking out specialists for a leg that's slightly turned in when she sits.

I just call an Orth tody to make an appt for my DD. She started walking at 10 months and is now 18 months. Both of her toes/feet turn in a little. I don't know if it has to do with her fet or from all the running she does but she seems to fall a lot. But my dd runs 95% of the time and walks the other 5%.

I brought her to my Ped. They said it was muscle because when they moved her foot to the right position it moved easily. But they did give me an Ortho number anyway. My sis ter is a PT and said it will most likely be fixed by PT but I should till get it checked by the Ortho.

When I called the receptionist told me they normally don't see kids with this problem until they are 5 because most of them grow out of it once they start walking nd wearing shoes. I explained my situation and told her I at least wanted a consolt with the Dr. We are schduled for June 1st.

FM me if you'd like the numbers of the Drs. I got from my Ped. One guy is through Stony Brook and the other is through Schneider's in Commack. I'm going to StonyBrook for now because it's closer to me.

Thank you so much for your response. I'm not overly worried because everything I've read says what you just said, that it usually corrects itself once they start to walk and wear shoes. And it has corrected itself A LOT. Only sometimes do I notice it. Do you have a number that I can call to help me tame my mother? I need that more! Just kidding. Yeah, if you could send me the numbers just so I have them. Let me know what happens when you take DD. Thanks!

My DD was born with clubbed feet that have been fixed. I have the name of a specialist if you need. He's top notch in the field....he lacks a little in the "warm and friendly" department but he worked wonders with my DD in a super short amount of time. FM me if you want any more info.

My husband was born pidgeon toed & from 6 months to 12 months he wore casts on both his legs. So when Lance was born I was a little concerned. My ped said that Lance was pidgeon toed as well. However, they no longer put casts on babies because they usually always grow out of it & if not it just makes them run a liitle faster. I'm not too concerned about Lance. If ava is walking fine I really wouldn't worry about it at all. DH walks fine now by the way.
