Would you want to read about this:

Now that I work for fitness magazines as the creative senior editor, it will be my job to work with the publisher for new ideas. Already in the first week, I hit him with 3....and last night I thought of one more. I know he liked 2 of them already....

You can find all 3 mags I work at in Borders. Yay! Okay:

For the women's fitness magazine, which caters to diet and fitness advice backed up by scientific research:

A feature on Kendra from Girls Next Door. I recalled that she was looking to get into women's fitness magazines as a model; good timing--show is popular. The research department at work is already trying to find out about her...yay!

Review of current exercise videos....such as Windsor P, Fluidity, etc...

Health food spread. Power bars, etc

Last--what about an advice column written by (if possible) Jackie from Work Out? I'm sure someone would ghostwrite it for her, but still....I wonder if they'll be into that??

Re: Would you want to read about this:

Love them all... as for the health food spread, maybe something that focuses more on good, healthy snacks that will give you a good boost of energy for the gym, or before your workout? And maybe have someone do a taste test and review of all the power bars out there - some are good, but some are yucky, and some have a RIDICULOUS amount of fat, and most of us don't read the labels

Great! And how about alternatives to working out in the gym - ie ballet or dance? Chat Icon

or what about a piece on eco-friendly ways to get fit - like riding a bike to work or something?

Yes - the protein bars don't always end up being as healthy as we'd like them to be so that would be excellent.

Jackie and her trainers look amazing so advice from the Sky Sports team would be amazing.

That's the only one I wouldn't read. That show & everyone associated with it disturbs me.

The other ideas are good. Some magazine I used to read reviewed videos--not sure if it was a regular feature, but I did enjoy reading that part.

I appreciate the feedback!

I approached the boss man w/the idea about Jackie and he lit up--he saw the show last night, loved it and was trying to find out about her...so I gave him that "we think alike!" vibe...always a good thing!

I'm not interested at all in hearing about Kendra. I just don't like that show.

The other ideas sound good though.

Have you mentioned what magazine it is that you work for yet? Who is it geared towards? Your average female who wants to work out but isn't really hard-core? (for example, women that read Shape magazine vs. women that read Muscle and Fitness Hers or Oxygen)....

Being a mom, for me it's interested to read about women who are working moms and find the time to work out. I love reading their stories. And since Mother's Day is coming up, why not do a spread on working moms who work out?

Here are my magazines; the company does all 3....

Muscular Development (a really hardcore bodybuilding magazine; a real bodybuilder's magazine--the owner is a former pro)

FitnressRx Women (awesome mag for the very fit, nutrition-minded young woman. Not hardcore like the other. Competes with Shape.)

FitnessRx Men (basically the same, but for dudes. Rivals Men's Health)

I definitely would love cover people to be more "real" fit people as apposed to fitness models!

I haven't been to the book store in ages (I love Amazon.com!), but next time I go, I'll look for these!

I agree on every account!!

I have no interest in Kendra. I tend to think that those women's bodies are so surgically altered anyway- that I would not want them as a role model. Isn't she the one who was kissing and holding her boobs in a recent commercial thanking "them" for her new condo Chat Icon

But the rest of your ideas are great!

Glad you mention that. The art director (the publisher's wife) was telling me that readers get really angry when fake boobs are on the cover!
