I only sat in the back with Julia for like 2-3 months, then I wanted to be upfront again with my DH.

I only sat in the back with DD on the way home from the hospital. I always used the mirror to watch her.

I tried to sit in the back while I was driving. Now that was tricky!

I don't sit with him, but we haven't been on very long rides, either. He falls right asleep and stays sleeping. On the rare occasion that he has woken up, it's usually for his paci, so I just pop it back in his mouth Chat Icon

For a few months we did (we took turns) but stopped after about 3 or 4 months because I didn't want Liam getting too used to it. What I did instead was print out pictures of us from the computer (me, him and DH) and tape them to the backseat so he wouldn't feel "lonely" in the back by himself.

Never did this (not even coming home from the hospital), it's hard to sit back there with two seats. Plus the wide double mirror does not work to see either boy so if one is making weird noises i will just lean back to see what they need...otherwise we can't see them. Just the way it is.

Chat Icon That's such a cute idea!

ETA: Since DD is into eating paper these days it probably wouldn't work for us.

Wow, I guess I am the only one, but I still sit in the back 90% of the time when DH drives and DD is over 2 years old. I do it basically to hang out with her, and keep her company. I can still talk to DH but Im not missing out on anything in the front seat anyway

Re: Sitting in the back with your dc when someone else is driving?

99% of the time its me driving, but in the beginning,I can barely remember, but maybe a couple of months if we go somewhere and hubby drives?

and Im pretty flexible and can even find a binky and stick it in baby's mouth from the driver's seat. (have even done it in my honda civic way back when Chat Icon)
we figure it all out somehow, huh? Chat Icon
and now with the minivan, I can get up and walk back there if I need to.Chat Icon

My one sister does this. When she leaves and we see her get in the back, me and my other sister laugh hysterical with each other. We sit up front with our husbands.

I've only sat in the back a few times when he was super fussy for some reason.

I have only done this on rare occasions, maybe to feed Ryan when he was very young when we were driving. Otherwise I am in the front. For some reason it annoys me to see a mom in the backseat with the baby and the dad driving. I also didn't want to create any bad habits.

Re: Sitting in the back with your dc when someone else is driving?

I was on the back with Benjamin till he was 1 year and 4 moths old. I am a working mom so i will take any extra time to interact with him, even if it is on the back of the car.

Then I got pregnant and couldn't be on the back anymore because it would get me terribly nauseous. So, that's how it stopped.

Re: Sitting in the back with your dc when someone else is driving?

I do as its just easier ! My dd hates the car seat...really really doesnt like it so its just for a quiet life. My DH and I have better conversations when I sit back there as my DD is quiet and we can actually hear ourselves..oh and he flirts with me in the mirirorChat Icon

After they were a month old. They had bad acid reflux and I was always afraid they would have an "episode" if I wasn't back with them. They sleep most of the time in the car anyway, so that's when I felt more comfortable moving up with DH.

I still sit back there! It is just easier to be back there, he usually needs to eat at some point.

When it is just me and him in the car he is fine by himself.

I can't believe more people don't, I just assumed everyone did Chat Icon

I am surprised people do sit in the back. I can't understand why they need to sit with the children and not with their husband, unless the baby was sick or crying hysterical.
