I am going to sound like a b!tch (VENT)-UPDATE
Ok, I am going to sound like a really, really ungrateful b!tch and I know Iam lucky to be getting a shower at all.
But....I am not supposed to know where it is, but I found out from my SIL (she slipped up) that it is at my cousin's house in Ridge. Now, I live on Staten Island, so Ridge is easily an hour and half to two hours on the road!
I told them MONTHS ago, I didn't know if I could go to Easter b/c it was in Montauk and I would be past 36 weeks, WHY would they schedule a shower for 37.5 weeks in RIDGE?
I mean, overall, it is easier for my family (not my mom, who lives in the city) but not easier for me at all! Now I have to trek everything BACK to Staten Island.
Nothing I can do about it, the invites are out and I know they will give me a lovely shower, but for god sakes!!
UPDATE 3/2-So, I spoke to my mom yesterday and told her I knew where it was and she asked me what I thought and I told her that it was a little far and she said "I know, we know it is a big inconvience, but your cousin offered". I KNOW they are trying to be nice and then she went on to point out that "50% of the guest list is from Long Island" well, I don't live there tho!
Basically, it is still in Ridge, and if I can't drive, my dad will drive me, which still means I have to get myself and my car to 92nd street in the city, which is about another 45 minutes out of the way
I guess I just need to get over it now and psych myself up b/c it will be a nice party...just without my in laws or friends b/c they aren't in the "50%" of people that live on LI!!!
OH and I reminded her I wasn't supposed to be more than an hour from the hospital and she said "There are hospitals out there"

I would be totally PO'd too!!!! Doesn't sound like they took YOUR needs & comfort into consideration at all. Not to mention, you're right, you have to get all your loot back to Staten Island!
You have every right to be annoyed/frustrated!

That is far. If it does have to be there? Could they just ship the big items directly to your house and include a picture of them in the card?
My co-workers did that with one of my high chairs and another guest did that with my double stroller.
Could you pass that suggestion onto someone? If not several stocked cars are going to have to follow you from Ridge back to your home and they will be making the drive anyway.

I feel bad for you , I do. Not only is the shower late and scares me...( my mom had me on the day of her shower) so I worry for you..LOL....But I agree that distance is crazy.
VENT away, cause you wont be able to change it right???
Its gonna be worth it to get Your son lots of new stuff in the end!

I don't blame you at all! That is a huge inconvenience especially being 37.5 weeks pregnant! I thought my situation was bad! I'll be 34 weeks pregnant and I'll have to trek out to eastern LI for my shower and I live in Manhattan. I just didn't want to deal with taking my luggage on the LIRR and then having to lug all my gifts back (I'll get a ride back). I just feel like I'll be so tired and sore by then. I really didn't have a choice in the matter, so there is nothing I can do.

I am sorry! I just don't understand why they would make it harder on you.
Why make it convenience to THEM? Aren't you the one who has to drive a long trip and will be almost at full term?

No. It is a surprise, I am not even supposed to know about it at all!
The thing kind of makes me sad too is that it is easier for my family, but not my SMIL, SILs and friends who are all in and around the city.
I am a little happy my SIL spilled b/c now I can vent and rage about it here and hopefully get over it so I don't seem ungrateful at the shower.

This is a possibility too My doctor has spoken to me about inducing at 37 weeks (April 12th, the shower is the 14th) because of the vaginal polyp that I have! I told them THAT as well!

How were they going to get you out there? It's not going to be much of a surprise when you find yourself sitting in a car for 1.5 hrs. I swear sometimes people don't think things through.

Another thing, you won't have enough time to get all the gifts unpacked and ready for the baby. You have to wash the clothes and put them away, not to mention putting together everything, like the swing, etc.

No. I've known the date for a while (I've b!tched about that in posts for a while ) and my SIL was asking if it was at my cousin's b/c she didn't recognize the name of the person's house it was at.....I wish tho.
I really appreciate the support ladies
Oh and I am sure they will tell me like, the day before and that will be the surprise, they told me about my bridal shower the week before (again, I loathe surprises!) and the funny thing is, my mom couldn't even drive that pregnant, so what if I can't drive?
