using basement as a main hangout
does anyone use your basement as your main hangout/den.
Maybe you don't have both a den and a livingroom so you have made your basement into a den?

We have a living room, den and family room, but we also have a finished basement where we spend 99% of our time.

We are in the process of finishing ours now. Our house has a small living room (suppossed to be "formal) and a den, but we have an apartment where the den is.
We are finishing the basement and adding a 1/2 bath down there too, and a seperate room for the washer/dryer and oil burner.
It gets kinda crowded for us when we have friends over, so this is definitely going to add a lot of space that will be used often! I can't wait until it is finished!

we are finishing our basement right now as well. I think that we will use it occassionally, but not that often. We will probably use it more when we have guests (so the guys can all hang out downstairs) and when we have kids it will be their playroom. I will post pictures when it's finished.

My BIL converted part of his basement into a family room so that main level (it's a split) has a larger kitchen and dining space. They did a great job and it really works well to hang out there.

We're doing this. We dont have a den, only a formal LR, so our basement will be where everyone hangs out, our TV will be down there also. I'll also post pics when it's done.

My brother did this with his basemant. It came out amazing...and he now has 2 more bedrooms, 1 full bath plus a sick entertainment room with a 50" Plasma down there. It came out gorgeous.
He has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, living room, dining room and kitchen upstairs.

Our basement is finished 1940's style. I really want to make it a hangout one day - it's just that I'm nervous that the crickets will come back year after year and scare everyone - including myself, in the basement away. Then it wouldn't be useful at all....hmmm... lol....

Our basement is finished but we have to do some painting and recarpet down there. That's going to be our main hangout room. It has a bar and a full bathroom, so we can't wait to fix it up.
We also have a living room upstairs but I wanted to keep our gigantic tv downstairs.

We just finished redoing our basement. We have furniture, our flat screen on the wall and a bar. I just need to start decorating. Now we're working on fixing our laundruy room and adding a bathroom, which is seperate from our hangout area in our basement.
