AJ update (thank you nbc188) VCUG and Renal Ultrasound

First off... HUGE THANK YOU to nbc188 for giving me a heads up on what to expect, etc with the VCUG and renal ultrasound.

AJ was a real trooper. Did a great job!

They ended up doing the Renal Ultrasound first (just like you said nbc188!) and she was already a half hour past due for a feed. She wasn't cranky .. yet.. she was people watching. They said we could NOT feed her yet.

She was awesome ... my little girl.. she didnt care LESS about the ultra sound. She craned her little neck to watch her images. Didn't move a hair. Impressed the tech! Then she stared at the lady and her hands. After a bit she grabbed the paddle and given a little time, took it away. Again, impressing the tech "She's stronger than I thought she'd be!" LOL. She also figured out how to press what buttons to make sounds (ie take more images) I admit I was giggling and the tech struggled with my 8month old.

She did real good and everything looked fine. Tech was really sweet and was bringing in others to see how fast AJ learned each new 'toy' to play with. Haha they 'say' they've never seen a child pick up so fast with their tools (bet they say that to all the little ones to relieve stress - and yeah, it worked).

She was getting tad cranky at the VCUG but didnt really complain when we stripped her bare and laid her down on a cold slab (even with those little padded papers it was cold) and then put sandbags on her arms and AJ still didnt care.

We were finally allowed to feed her while she got the VCUG. She cried when they couldnt get it in the first few tries (wrong angle) but when it was in and no pressure was put on her, she was ok and content with her bottle.

Now the HARD part (or hilarious) they needed her to tinkle. She didnt want to go. They poured warm water on her privates and no go.. kept pouring it and the nurse finally said "she looked like she was going to until you did that doctor" LOL they got smart and freed her legs.. and she thanked them with a half gallon of fluid. I have NEVER Seen soooo much fluid come out of her, EVER. It was more than I produce after a movie with a large coke!!

They say all the images look GREAT!

I had second thoughts up to the moment we walked into the hospital. Im glad I did it. Its off my mind now and I know its done.

Yay, I'm so happy I saw this, and so happy it went well!!!!! Sounds like she was a superstar, what more can you ask for?!

Sounds like she handled the VCUG so much better than my DD, it was awesome that you could feed her during it...that would have definitely helped my DD too, that was a great idea.

And I hear you, waiting for her to pee was the WORST part practically, it took forever and they used the same tricks on my DD.

So glad it went so well and glad I was able to help just a tiny bit (and glad I didn't make you more nervous!)
