Stocking medicine cabinet for baby?

I'm due in a few weeks and one of the books suggested stocking the medicine cabinet for baby. Do you ladies have any suggestions as to what I might need to get started?

TIA!

It's good to have these things on hand so you don't have to run out and get them when you need them in a hurry:

Benadryl (only the generic is on the market - it's called diphenhydramine)

Tylenol (aceteminophen)

Rectal thermometer

A&D ointment and Desitin (you need both)

Stocking medicine cabinet for baby?

For a newborn I would have on hand -

infant tylenol (Advil/Motrin can not be given until 6 months)

gripe water

saline nose spray and a nasal bulb

a rectal thermometer

A&D

Desitin (or butt paste, or balmex, or triple paste - they are all basically the same thing)

All this and bacitracin for a boy if they get snipped

Infant pain reliever (tylenol -- get generic)

gas drops

saline drops

battery operated aspirator. Lauren has one and the thing is amazing and SO much easier than using the other ones.

vaseline -- lots of uses.

I actually preferred baby vaseline opposed to A&D. I don't like the smell of A&D. We always used it until I found Baby vaseline.

I used Colic calm for my daughter and it worked wonders when we had bad nights of gas and reflux.

Re: Stocking medicine cabinet for baby?

Tylenol (I prefer the generic Target version)
Saline spray
Nasal aspirator
Gripe water
Thermometer (with probe covers)
Mylicon
Aquaphor
Fine tooth comb

You can get these also but won't need or really be able to use them until about six months, so make sure they have a late expiration date:
Benadryl
Hylands teething tablets
Advil/Motrin

Also, rubbing alcohol for the baby's umbilical cord stump, along with cotton balls. Or you could get the individual alcohol wipes (I preferred these.)
