Frustrated...converting toddler bed to full size bed

We ordered a mattress set from Macy's, scheduled to have it delivered tomorrow morning. We put the bed together tonight, taking down the rails and removing what used to be her crib, and then we saw the bed was 12" off the ground already without the box spring and mattress, which will be another 19.5" up"......I wouldn't even be able yo get into the bed, much less my daughter!

Macy's is going to cancel delivery at no cost and switch out the box spring for a low profile one, but it just sux that the crib companies don't explain this important fact when you purchase the conversion kit!

Has this happened to anyone else?

I haven't converted my crib yet since DS is using it but we did put DD in a full bed I knew she wouldn't be able to get in on her own. So I bought bed rails and a step stool and she does just fine

We moved my kids right to a regular twin with box spring and mattress. It was high but we got a step stool and bed rails and it all worked out.

We didn't use a box spring right away.

We use a step stool too. Our dd bed isn't even a converted crib just a regular bed and it's very high and she can't climb into it.

Thank you for letting me vent. When I contacted Baby Cache, they advised me they don't recommend standard box springs for their converted beds, but rather Bunkie boards.

Why they didn't put that in the directions or literature about the crib is beyond me! UGH!

Re: Frustrated...converting toddler bed to full size bed

we figured it out the hard way to….
and then after getting it all set up…I wasn't happy with the little wooden rails holding up the bed…so my husband is pretty handy and was able to get rid of the wood slats and we bought a metal bed frame that fit in the middle….

We have a munire convertible…it was just sad to see how it was made….it wasn't cheap!!!

It was a pain…..but worth it in the end...

The same thing happened to me. The mattress and boxspring were delivered and it was even too high for me to get up on. Luckily the mattress company exchanged the boxspring for a bunky board for no cost, but yeah, I wish I knew before hand.

Yep. I wanted to convert her crib to the toddler and then realized I did not like how high it was. I spent the money and got a toddler bed. From that we went to a box spring and mattress on the floor. Works fine

Re: Frustrated...converting toddler bed to full size bed

Macy's has been wonderful to deal with. They were supposed to deliver the original mattress and box spring this morning, but we canceled it last night.

At no charge, they returned the standard box spring and placed the order for the low box spring since it was before delivery occurred. They stated this is a common occurrence and have had parents call in with this issue, so they understood.

Our new delivery timetable changed by a week, so now we just have to figure out where DD will sleep until her mattress arrives.

I had huge issue with this too, and we did convert and used wooden planks and the bed stlill broke, will ever by from them again
