WWYD? Please help me decide!
We have been going back and forth on whether to put DS in a bed and finally store the crib. Well today at TRU they actually had the Thomas the Train toddler bed set-up and he flipped out for it!!!!! He climbed right in and started saying "oh Thomas!!!!!! Choo-choo!" Then he told me it was sleepy time and pulled the Thomas blanket over his body and procedded to go to sleep.
The Thomas bed is $269
It hurts because we were really looking at a normal wood toddler bed that costs $69. Then I start thinking about the fact that we paid more than $269 for the crib and they will each last about the same time.
Then we find this, This is $32 and goes over a twin bed.
But DH says "But did you see his face light up with the real bed?!?!? We can't get him that cheap piece of crap!"
WWYD? Do they have something that is much nicer that could go over a toddler or twin bed?
Thanks for reading this far!

If you can swing the expense, I'd get him the bed he fell in love with. Otherwise, I'm sure he'd be happy with the 2nd one posted too.

Re: WWYD? Please help me decide!
DD is still in her crib and we plan to switch her to a toddler bed in the next month or so. I think you have a bigger kid like I do. She'll probably only fit on this mattress comfortably for another year, maybe.
If I didn't already have a hand me down toddler bed I'd be putting her straight into a twin with bed rails rather than spend the money on a toddler bed.
I know it's very hard to resist such excitement but the novelty would wear off quickly for DD so I'd let her "visit" the bed as a treat but keep a less expensive or less fun option at home.
IMO beds are for sleeping. I wasn't allowed to do homework or play on my bed, it was for sleep only and it gave me great sleep habits. I'm trying to do the same for DD, she's never had toys in the crib except for her lovey and I'll keep her toddler bed and later beds simple and for sleeping as best I can.
I know how hard it is to resist the excitement so if I encountered the same thing you did all I just wrote would probably go out the window and DH would have to stop me.

If you can swing the extra $$ I would search high and low for the Thomas bed at a better price.
I'm sure his face made you all

Re: WWYD? Please help me decide!
if it were me, I would be the twin bed cover. Honestly, I'm not going to go by a toddler bed. Our crib converts and then we'll go to a twin. Plus, I think your DS will like the cover too! Its adorable and when its on "his" bed in "his" room he may love it just as much

Re: WWYD? Please help me decide!
There have been a few people selling the Thomas Bed on Craigslist for like 125-150. I want that bed too but cant justify 300 for the crib mattress....

Re: WWYD? Please help me decide!
I would either get the twin bed cover or look on craigslist for the Thomas bed. I see LT beds on there all the time, it's a sin to pay full price for it bc they are so durable and easy to clean, there's generally no issue with buying a second hand one. I bought my DS a LT race car bed when he was 2 for $125 on CL and sold it 3 years later for $100

I wanted to, but DH said he doesn't want a used one. I need a massive weather event to hit, so we can get lots of overtime.

Bryan will be going straight to a twin bed. He's already a bit big for a toddler bed (*I* feel). I'd search for the twin bed cover.

Re: WWYD? Please help me decide!
Personally, I wouldn't buy a toddler bed at all. We only used it b/c his crib turned into one (and thats it)
I'd try to find a twin with a nice Thomas set as a compromise

Go for the twin bed cover! He fell in love with Thomas on the bed, not the structure, IMO.

Re: WWYD? Please help me decide!
Tough but how long is he going to use it, really? 1 year. He is on the bigger side so I don't think he will last too long on a toddler bed. KWIM?
He saw it at the store. Loved it! He is no longer at the store. Get the cover for a twin bed. Maybe he would have moved on to Spiderman or whatever character by the time he goes to the twin size.
ETA: the toddler bed does not look very long. How big did the bed appear when M laid on it.

Re: WWYD? Please help me decide!
I know everyone keeps saying he won't last long in it - but my nephews are turning six this month and they are still in their race car beds. I don't know how well they fit into them - but they are still in them!

this is also a cute bed topper for $53. It looks more like the original bed.

Re: WWYD? Please help me decide!
First thing I would do is check Craigslist. If you can't find it there I would shop around and look for coupons...if all else fails the second option is not bad at all.

and considering he had to have his circ re done the guilt alone would make me buy him WHATEVER he wanted for the rest of his life.
Yep, Mike pretty much promised him a Porsche for his third surgery on the boy parts. This is much cheaper than that.

It's the same size as a crib mattress and he still has a good amount of room in the crib.

Re: WWYD? Please help me decide!
I would go with the twin bed and tent. I can almost gurantee that he will fall in love with that too. Children are not like adults, they can't decide on a bed and stick to it.
Or I would look on craigslist for TT toddler bed.
I don't know how many times I went out of my way to get my son the thing he fell in love with only to have him fall in love a few weeks later with something else.
