Is this a dumb idea on my part?
My DH and I need a will. I saw an attorney advertise on craigslist that he does wills for $100. Perfect price for me, but should I use an attorney that I never heard of and do this based on the price?

Re: Is this a dumb idea on my part?
Honestly, I think I'd rather use something like Legalzoom.com or something, not someone on Craigslist...but I have no real reason why.

Re: Is this a dumb idea on my part?
Personally, I would go with a recommendation and not someone random who I found on Craigslist.

Re: Is this a dumb idea on my part?
I would not even use legal zoom, we are paying 450 and going to a lawyer
We need to do guardianship papers for mikayla and I just do not trust legal zoom, not sure why

I'd visit a lawyer that was recommended, so that the language is how you want it worded and some who can explain the entire process.

I agree with going with a recommendation.
It's too important to cheap out and go with someone you don't know.
FM if you want a rec.

Re: Is this a dumb idea on my part?
If it's a simple will, I don't see why not. If you have special trusts, than I'd opt for someone who is recommended through a friend.
Frankly if it's simple, you could copy someone else's will, change the names to you, your kids, etc...get witnesses & a notary.
Our attorney for our will & our health care proxies, etc cost ~$350 but was paid for my DH's union. It wasn't complicated - only naming the beneficiaries (our kids), guardians for the kids & the executors of the estate. We were told that guardians & executors should be different people to protect the child's interest.
