Food for birthday party
We are having a small 6th birthday party for DD in our backyard this year with some of DD's friends. Excluding the whole allergy thing, do you think mini slider burgers, hot dogs and chicken nuggets are fine? DD mentioned pizza but I think that is because that seems to be the protocol at all the parties she has been too. A hot pizza in July does seem to agree with me.

That's totally fine. I might do a side, too. Like mac and cheese or potato salad or something.
You could also just do heroes.

You should add a non-meat option or side.

Re: Food for birthday party
Thanks, mac and cheese is a good suggestion. I will mix some melted velvetta in with macaroni.

Re: Food for birthday party
It's fine- I would still do pizza because it's so much easier and I can eat pizza in 100 degree heat or on the surface of the sun, because, well, it's pizza. LOL
Maybe throw in some mac and cheese for meatless option My DD went through through a carbs only phase.

Food for birthday party
Is the party food just for the kids or adults too? I’m having DD’s 7th birthday with just her friends (it’s a drop off) in our yard in a couple weeks and we’re going to grill burgers and hot dogs for them. I’m also putting out small bags of chips so they can each pick a bag to eat with their food.

if I was you I would def. Add chicken nuggets and/or mac and cheese up to maybe a month ago my DD would not eat burgers and hot dogs we only recently too. My DS eats neither burgers or hot dogs

I think your menu is awesome! And I would totally appreciate that over pizza.. which is so so so played out. If you could add mac n cheese or even just pasta with butter as a side or fries.. I think you have it more than covered!!

I think pizza is easier and a safer bet. Majority of kids eat pizza. I think hamburgers and hot dogs are not as much of a kid thing anymore.

Re: Food for birthday party
I think you are fine with that menu. We do BBQ parties all the time (2 kids with summer birthdays) and that’s pretty much our menu: burgers, hot dogs (they are so easy) and chicken thighs. We add corn as a very simple no work side. Perfect for kids and adults.
One year we did an octopus themed party and had grilled octopus which everyone literally fought over.
Kids are more daring than we give them credit for (especially when they see other kids eating something).
Def don’t feel obligated to do pizza.

I agree. My dd is 5 and eats neither burgers nor hot dogs and at get-together with her friends, I’ve noticed her friends don’t either. I think kids associate parties with pizza. Maybe nuggets and Mac n cheese as an alternate but I don’t think you necessarily need to be “different” for a kiddie party.

LOL. DD will eat a burger or dog if she has no choice, but she'll bitchh about it. She's not a huge meat eater. That's why I always say pizza. That she will eat.
