How many presents do you give you kids for Christmas (total amounts)? My kids are 5 and 2.

Re: Presents
I feel like we are on the low side for this board: 1 from Santa (they don’t expect us to get them anything: Santa gets them one big gift: scooter, dollhouse, bike, etc) From family, we have: Aunt & family Uncle & family Cousins 2 sets of grandparents Everyone gets something and that comes out to A LOT! (5 gifts per kid on top of the Santa gift).

Santa gives 1 gift and I give him whatever I can buy for $100 (whether it's 1 bigger give or a bunch of smaller ones). The stocking stuff is on top of that but it's usually not just more presents (maybe a few small ones, but some candy and other small items).

Re: Presents
Only Santa brings gifts for DD. Nothing from "us"
then she gets gifts from some aunts and uncles and grandparents- we have a pretty small family though
I can't recall how many gifts she opens from Santa on Christmas morning, but it's a decent amount.

Re: Presents
I do 7 gifts each plus a stocking, all from Santa.
Something they want- bigger ticket fun item Something they need- with sports they tend to always need something Something to wear- I get something I normally wouldn’t buy. Like my DD wanted an Alex Morgan jersey. Something to read- I’ve bought books, added “books” to their iPads or they a magazine subscription Something to do- I pick something cool they have wanted to do like movie tickets, Disney on ice etc Something for me- this is some type of keepsake Something for family- this is sometimes board games, I got an aquarium membership last year etc.
I have 4 kids, so I needed less “stuff” and more practical or experience things, and it’s worked out really well the last few years I’ve done this.

Re: Presents
I don't add them up to be honest. Some give 3, some give 30. Do what works for you

You need to do what you think is right for your family. I'm sure the answers to this is going to run the gamut. I don't count the number of gifts I buy. I just get what I think DD would like. Sometimes it might look like alot but it maybe because I hit it good at the $5 and under store lol. We do a big gift from mom and dad and the rest from Santa. We do a purge before Christmas and donate alot.

Re: Presents
So for Hanukkah I normally give eight, but this year we are doing one larger present, and tickets for a show. So my son is getting a computer and tickets to a show. DD is younger, so she will get a couple of present type presents, but we are not doing 8. I may give books, and pjs too, so they will have something to open, but I am not going to give a lot this year because they are getting more expensive individual presents.

I refuse to go crazy this year. She has so much stuff and hardly plays with any of it. It's a waste of money and space. Also, her birthday is a few weeks before Christmas. She's getting a toy kitchen and I ordered a bunch of Peppa stuff on zuiliy a few weeks ago.

My kids have their first Christmas this year. They have 2 big gifts to share (though they share everything because they are twins) a ride on car and a large activity center, and then 3 gifts each (v tech things like the steering wheel, some blocks, a push mower). Their stocking will be a pair of pajamas and a Christmas book which I would like to do each year for them. We also bought them a year long membership to LICM. I want to spoil them but not over do it. They get a ton all year from family which I’m sure will die Down as they get older. They have tons of family that spoils them as well. Their birthday is 2 weeks after Christmas and while it’s close I always want them to feel as though they aren’t getting a dual birthday/ Christmas gift so we are making every effort to keep them from meshing

Dh and I give dd 1 gift from us. Then she gets around 10 gifts from Santa plus a stocking. I set a budget and try my best to get her the top things she is asking for—I wrap everything from the dollar store bracelets to toys- she loves unwrapping gifts- this may change as she gets older but at 3.5 everything is exciting to open- I try to buy things that can grow with her.
